VS 7 SE - No Menu Bar

Post by danyost »

I finally got around to installing VS 7SE, which came with a mini-DV cam I bought 3 years ago. When I open VS, I get no menu bar. If I enlarge the preview window, then the menu bar appears, but is grayed out. Everything looks OK when I go back to the 'normal' view, but the menu bar does not work. Minimizing and restoring the VS window results in the menu bar being MIA again. I have un-installed and reinstalled several times to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Dan

What is your monitor resolution? VS will only show properly if you use the minimum screen resolution needed for it. I admit with some embarrassment that I cannot recall what that was with VS7. I am away from home at the moment where I still have the box which came with VS7, and which has this little snippet of information on it...

Hopefully someone else will come up with it...

I also see you have not filled in your system information. However, if you have Vista installed, you need to be aware that VS7 will certainly not work with that...

Thank you very much Ken. I am running at 1280x1024 on XP Home. It appears that it does not like my task bar at the top of the monitor, auto-hiding or moving it to the bottom resolves the issue.

Thank you,
Dan
