Hi

A picture in 16:9 should be 1024 x 576 that¡¦s the square pixel size for widescreen.

Inserting a pic of that size into a 4:3 frame would show as your first image

For Pal 4x3 the size would be 768 x 576

In VS11+ (

Try this:

Project properties is 4:3

With 16:9 picture put in overlay track. Resize using the handles in the corner. Re centre the picture if necessary.

With "Share" You can now either create a DVD compatible mpeg file and then import that into a new project or continue to add overlays if you have VS11+

Hi

Sorry for the confusion, but I read the post as working with still images.

Read my guide to Widescreen 16:9 from the link below, this shows what 16:9 should look like using VS.

If the video has been squeezed, distorted, then the video may have been captured incorrectly.
A 16:9 captured as 4:3 will show distortion.

What are the properties of the video clip?
Right click on a video clip ¡Vselect properties-do the attributes show 16:9 or 4:3

Keep in mind the original picture/video in the example shown may very well have been 4:3 and two strips of black may have been added in the overlay tracks to give that effect.

It seems there's a few work-arounds to get that effect.
