Ulead VideoStudio 7.0 - Disc burner (no burner found)

Post by csfloyd60 »

I'm sure a simple but frustrating problem. I have been happily using this application for several years (as part of a video editing suite). After PC issues, I have had to re install Video Studio 7.0. When I come to burn my project on to CD/DVD, the disc burner fields are ghosted and says: 'no disc burner found' How do I resolve this problem.

Thanks for any help in advance

I can't open my front door, can you tell me what's wrong?

Do you have any idea how a lock smith would react to that question?

You are telling us nothing but expect help.

Do you have a burner installed? No, I don't mean "Do you have a device that looks like a burner?" inside your PC box, I mean "Is it installed?". You can find out in Control Panel >System >Device Manager >Hardware.

Do you have other burning software installed? Which one? Any "Packet Writing" software like NERO's InCD?

Sorry, I didn't realise it wasn't a straight forward question as I thought. I though it may just be a case of going into an option menu and selecting!

Of course my burner is installed.

I also have Roxio Video Wave software installed. This also does not show any burner at the moment. However, I have Nero 6 software insalled. This does show the burner but I only use this software for the transitions and effects. I prefer to burn to CD/DVD using Ulead. Do you think the Nero software could be the problem?

Sorry, I don't know what other info to provide. Let me know if you need further info and I'll happily provide.

Regards

Go to the Windows Control Panel. Check to see if there is an entry for InCD. If there is, uninstall it.
Then go to the device manager under My Computer and uninstall the DVD drive. Then re-boot.

OR:

If you don't have InCD installed then maybe if you uninstall the DVD drive and then reboot the other programs may detect the new installation of the drive.

Thanks for this. I have checked for InCD. I do not have this installed.

I'm afraid I need the idots guide to uninstalling the DVD drive. How do I do this? Where do I find the device manager? Is this the audio and sound device manage in the control panel?

When I reboot, will the found hardware wizard kick in or will I have to manually reinstall the DVD drive? Sorry for this dumb question!!

I forgot to mention, I also have Cybrlink power director 5 Express. This software has also located my disk drive.

Any further guidance appreciated.

Thanks

Right click My Computer, select Properties, then click the Hardware tab and then the Device Manager button. This will give you a list of hardware. Find the CD/DVD entry on the list and expand it if necessary. Right click the device and choose Uninstall. That's it! Then simply reboot and Windows will detect and re-install.
