Photo Express4 and DVD Movie Factory 6+

Post by giuser02 »

I used Photo Express 4 for Years, and I'm pleased with it.
It still works fine after my migration to Win XP SP2.
Unfortunately, I bought ULEAD DVD Movie Factory 6+ and installed it.
Then Photo Express4 (IPE40.exe) fails to show up, when started, although it's listed in the process list.
Going through Ulead Forum, it seems that DIVX module installed by default by DVD Movie Factory causes this Problem.
I de-installed this DIVX module and I could see several instances of IPE40 (after trying to start it, several times with anger...), but no show!
De-installing entirely DVD Movie Factory doesn' t fix the problem.

IT'S THE REPONSABILITY OF ULEAD TO TEST THE COMPATIBILITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS BEFORE LAUNCHING!

Don't tell me to move to PhotoExpress6, i'm not sure that the compatibility has been tested!
Ulead or Corel should provide a patch for such problem!

Have you tried to re-install Photo Express 4 to see if it fixes any corrupted settings caused by MF6 ?

A search through this forum will reveal, that it is not an DMF 6+ issue - it is a Windows XP issue.

Try to set program compatibility to 'Windows 98 / Windows ME' - It works for me!

To set program compatibility: Right-click launch shortcut, then choose 'properties' and select the 'compatibility' tab.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your answers and sorry for this late reply,

Samamsmas,
As i wrote in my post, Ulead PhotoExpress 4 (Ipe40) worked fine with Win XP SP2 until I installed DVD Movie Factory 6+.

Sjj1805,
I did it (reinstalling entirely) at least twice, before giving up.
And de-installing Divx doesn't fix the problem.

I fixed the problem for the moment by using 2 partitions of XP SP2, not the best solution, but this is the only quick way i found to use both, alternatively, until i would have time to investigate more.
