This might sound petty but I'm trying to improve the 1 - 2 second delay I get whenever I playback a video in VS10. When I'm doing lots and lots of little edits I find that the delay is really slowing me down.
I have a 3GHz machine with 1GB of ram and fast striped RAID SATA disks. I've done a lot of the performance tweaks with the OS and created a slim video profile.
So my question is... is there something else I can do with my OS or hardware. Can upgrading my video card make a difference? Is there some caching I can use? I'm using proxy files to help try and reduce the load. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or maybe I'm just expecting the impossible.
Thanks in advance,
Steve

I assume you are talking about a quick clip playback to assess how your edit looks... If so, then I am not sure there is all that much you can do. If you think about it, the program has to do some pretty complex calculations in order to apply your edits and play it back on the fly. And I am afraid that in the glacial times of video editing, a second or two is pretty fast...
