Eyedropper Tool hangs in TBYB PI-12

Post by Storia »

Whenever I try to use Eyedropper tool for "color on screen", program hangs & I have to Ctl+Alt+Del to unhang it.

Anyone else experienced this?

I had this problem once with PI 8.5, but it went away years ago and never came back.

So far, this is working pretty smoothly, except it takes forever to boot up the program it seems.

Would appreciate any feedback & thanks :)

Never heard of that one before. Maybe a total remove and re-installation might fix it. It's a long shot though.

Note: Make sure you still have a copy of the installer before you uninstall the software. Before installing, please temporarily close other running programs or applications including antivirus, norton utilities, screensaver, other memory resident programs including Internet connection, etc. to avoid unnecessary conflict and restrictions within your system.

Procedure as recommended by NickD

To reinstall the program here are the steps that Ulead suggests:

1. Please launch Windows Explorer and go to Tools>Folder>Options and on the View tab check "show hidden files and folders".

2. Empty contents of your Temp folder under C:\Windows\Temp.

3. Uninstall Ulead PhotoImpact using the Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel.

3a. Goto C:/Document and settings/ and under each user listed look for a folder called Application data. Here you may find a Ulead Systems/PhotoImpact folder. If you do open it and delete the folder corresponding with the version you are trying to re-install.

4. Go to C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems then delete the PhotoImpact folder.

5. Go to Start > Run and type: "regedit" then click OK. This will open the Registry Editor program. Go to C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information and delete the following folders if they are present:
{FE58B892-3825-4610-A6A2-E6EFCA83BD97}

6. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > Current Version > Uninstall and delete the following folders if they are present:
{FE58B892-3825-4610-A6A2-E6EFCA83BD97}

7. Locate the identity enclosed in curly brackets that corresponds to Ulead PhotoImpact, delete the said entry.

8. Please delete all PhotoImpact folders on the ff: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Ulead Systems\

9. Close regedit and restart your computer.

10. You can now proceed to reinstalling PhotoImpact. Be sure to logon as Administrator before installing your software to avoid restrictions.

Note: Before installing, please temporarily close other running programs or applications including antivirus, norton utilities, screensaver, other memory resident programs including Internet connection, etc. to avoid unnecessary conflict and restrictions within your system.

Nick

Hopefully that will get you going.

Okay - think I'll put up with it for now. If I decide to buy, have to do the clean reinstall anyhow at that point - that might fix it.

Thanks :)

I just love PI........it's always such a surprise.

Suddenly dropper tool for "color on screen" works. What did I do - who knows?!!!

The absolute only things I've done to change system are: windows updates, upgraged to IE7, downloaded Active X & installed a new wireless mouse.

Just reporting, in case anyone else encounters this problem - maybe the solution is in one of the above changes.

Otherwise, program seems to be working pretty well, but I've not loaded it up with presets, etc. I may have to buy this one.
