dmf 5 dvd burn error

Post by andyp »

hi i've been having a problem the past couple of days with the burning software

i keep getting this error:
"There is an internal error in the dvd engine"

at first i thought that it was a hardware issue,
but my dvd burner can still burn CD's

i was wondering if anyone would be able to help me with this.

Your other burning software may have "taken-over" your burner. This sometimes happens with "drag & drop" burning software.

If you have some other burning software running in th background, you can try disabling it, or you can "burn" you project to your hard drive (select "Create DVD Folders"), and then use your working software to burn the "DVD image" to your to an actual DVD.

"power calibration failed"
Well, I know what the error means, but I don't know if it's really true...

Before it starts burning real data, the laser burns some test data (in a special test area) at various power levels in order to match the laser power to the particular disc. I think this is handled by the firmware or driver, and the results are simply reported-back to Movie Factory. So, you might have a bad blank DVD, or your burner doesn't "like" that particular brand or batch... Or, something else is wrong during the power calibration phase and the firmware/driver are confused. :?

ok how does one make the firmware/driver not confused

cause i've burnt like 50 dvd's so far using this program over the past couple of months and using the same brand and it suddenly stopped working earlier this week.

YES YES YES !! ME TOO !!
I have been using either DVD Movie Factory 2 or Movie Factory 3 for the past 3 years making DVDs with NO PROBLEMS !!! AND NOW I CAN'T BURN ANYTHING WITH IT !!!
I have tried makign Video/Audio folders and doing a Copy Disc, I have tried making the "ixb" image file and burning a disc, I have tried using my "internal" DVD burner, I have tried using an external DVD burner, I have tried different brands of DVDs !!! NOTHING works !!
When I try to use the INTERNAL DVD burner, I get a "Failed to Burn Data to the Disc" error, and when I try to use the EXTERNAL DVD burner, I get a "Power Calibration Error", which I know is NOT the problem !! That damn power calibration error message is a bunch of crap...
I tried UNinstalling Roxio Easy CD/DVD Creator (because one of the FAQs on Ulead's site said it might be causing problems) and that made NO difference either... What has "changed" on my computer that it doesn't work anymore ?!!?!? ARRRRRRRGGGHGGHGHGHGHGH!!!!!
Could it be a "windows update" screwed up everything ??

PLEASE HELP !!!!
