My daughter has developed an interest in video editing, so it's time to get her a digicam with decent video abilities. That fits her needs better than a camcorder.
An important aspect will be the ability to edit any resulting video clips. I've tried doing this both with clips downloaded from review sites, and for some I made myself in stores when I took along my own SD card.
It seems that VS 11+ can happily edit mjpeg format files, such as produced by most of the Canon cameras, but when it comes to quicktime .mov files, the sound is badly corrupted. A test edit with another video editing program (WinDVD Creator 2) gave the same results for the .mov files.
I've tried outputting to all available sound formats, but to no avail.
Is this a codec issue? Is there a solution, or is VS just unable to edit .mov files?
