Blah Blah , i know this has been posted a few times, but can someone explain how to get rid of it???? I have wasted 15 discs tryin to use this so called program, and right when its like 18% burnt it just stops and i have to throw that disc away. Adobe, powerdirector etc has never done that, they locked up but never just STOPPED BURNING.. Cmon enough of what we are using , what are our spxs, simply HOW DO U GET RID OF THIS PROBLEM, or should i move on to another faulty editing program, or is there a patch. Please help , a lot of wasted money down the drain....

Ok let's get some things straight here.
NO-ONE on this board works for Corel or is affliated with Corel in any way. The members here are simply users like yourself who happen to be of the nature that they are prone to helping others...crazy I know. So comments like this:"Cmon enough of what we are using , what are our spxs, simply HOW DO U GET RID OF THIS PROBLEM," don't really put those members into a frame of mind whereby they may feel the urge to help. Nor do they put them in a position where they actually CAN help.
We have no idea what your operating environment is, we cannot "see" your setup, we are totally blind to everything that is occurring in front of you...we don't even know what version of VS you are using or even if you ARE using VS.
Read the top sticky, answer the questions and we will endeavour to help in any way we can.

How to fix it? You answered that yourself
unless of course, you want to use VS, that's differentAdobe, powerdirector etc has never done that,..
My apolizes,, Im sorry, i just get so frustrated in spendin so much money and having editing programs fail one after another. OK lets start fresh.. I use ULEAD videostudio 11.0. I own a Panasonic SDR-H18 HDD Camcorder. All my videos are uploaded in MPEG2 format. I edit my stuff with Mp3 files , transitions, jpegs, wav files . Actually lets just say EVERYTHING. When i go to burn my content i get through everything. Vob files etc. when it starts to burn and unspecified error comes up ruining my discs. Sometimes I put another one in and it will work, but sometimes i put three discs in and same old stuff. so im wasting so much money. Im learning so any help with some kinda of basic explanation would help so much,, THanks guys

You said: ...having one editor after the other fail...???? Have you tried different ones? What was the problem with these? What makes you think it is in fact VS which causes you grief?
Can you please give us a step by step work flow? When you say you get through everything... VOB files for instance, do you mean you have created DVD folders on your hard disk and are now trying to burn these folders to DVD?
A step by step description of what you do and in what order (not just "every thing") should get us going.

Yes i create the DVD with menus and music in the menus, it starts to burn and POOF it fails. I start by clickin Create disk after im done editing, then click add chapters, i select my DVD menu template, ADD MUSIC (in which every other project locked up when i added music) anyways....I click menu out and start my process: Its labeled PRJ_20071022, DRIVE: E Lite on DVDRW LH-18A1P GL03: Copies 1: Recording format DVD-Video: Um my field type is on Lower Field First(DV) ( i dont know what that is):..... It converts the video of the title fine (which takes a long time) than it goes through all of its processes, I would tell u whati see but its almost 3am here and its taking forever like 18 mins, To be honest im not sure its creating a DVD folder, but when the error comes up when its burning and i try it again its very fast to burn (well try to burn)... am i doing something wrong, i feel like i might be. i never changed any spexs except for my 16:9 ratio because that looks the best. I installed it and ran with it... I love the program but this is the only program that I have had problems with finishing my movies with. I hope i helped heinz,

First, after editing, you should try first converting the edited project to DVD compatible mpeg-2 (Share > Create Video File > DVD) before you even think about opening the burning module (Share > Create Disc). That conversion will take some time. If you look at my system button, the computer listed there will take between 70 and 90 minutes to convert a high quality (8000 kbps bitrate) one hour project. If you are using mainly mpeg-2 and have SmartRender turned on, it will take less.
Once you have produced the new mpeg-2, save the project then go to File > New Project. Don't worry about a name -- the objective is just to clear the timeline in the editor once you have saved your original project. Now you click on Share > Create Disc. Insert your new mpeg-2 into the burning timeline. Go to the middle icon of the three in the bottom left of screen and make sure the box 'do not convert compliant mpeg files' is ticked. Build your menus, then go to the final burning page.
However, instead of selecting to burn to an actual DVD, instead select Create DVD Folders or Create Disc Image. To see those options, if they are not visible, click on the double downward-pointing arrow to the extreme right of Create Disc line. I always use Create DVD Folders because you can use a software DVD player like WinDVD or PowerDVD or Nero Showtime to play the final "burned" DVD folder back and check it is OK without wasting another blank disc. If everything is OK, you can then use a third party program like Nero to burn the DVD folder to an actual DVD. And if you can successfully produce a DVD folder, then find that you still can't burn it using a third party program, we will know that it is not Video Studio which is to blame, but something else on your computer...
Now another thing -- I notice you refer to DV and Lower Field First. How did that enter the picture? (No pun intended!) You are using mpeg-2 from a hard disk camera mainly, you said. Well at the very least, that normally uses Upper Field First, so you have to use Upper Field First as a central property of your projects throughout. If you use Lower Field First on what started life as Upper Field First, you are looking for trouble -- in the form of (at the very least) jerky and jagged video when you finally get to play a DVD on a stand-alone DVD player over your TV.
Next, you say that you use MP3 audio in your project. Some mp3 codecs conflict with Video Studio, notably the LameMP3 one. It is often better first to convert your audio files to standard .wav file and use those instead in your project.
Next, you need to be aware that there appears to be one glitch in the menu creation module in VS11. Once you have gone from the first page of the burning module to the next page, where you select the template for your menu, you can use the Edit tab on that page to customise the menu. Down in the bottom left of the Edit screen, there are two icons: Menu In and Menu Out. These allow for a cute little animation for fading in or fading out the menu to or from the actual video on the disc. By default, the Menu In icon is a blue background with a white circle with a diagonal line through it. This indicates it is disabled. Leave it that way. But the Menu Out button will be showing an animated transition. Click the button and select the same icon as is used for Menu In. In other words, totally disable this effect. Forget about it as it is known to cause enormous delays in the burning process, or it just hangs altogether. Believe me, I know from hard experience!!
Finally, you mentioned something or other was taking 18 minutes and you seemed to find this extremely long. Believe me again: it isn't, even if you have a powerful computer. If you have done what I suggested and first made an mpeg-2 of your project, that can take 90 minutes, or depending on your computer, much longer (though after 4 hours I would probably begin to worry).
But once you are in the burning module, and we are talking of a one hour project, then after you create your menu and press the final Burn button (regardless of whether you are burning an actual disc, creating a DVD Folder or Disc Image), the burning module will first convert the menu to video, it will then multiplex your video and audio (a required element for any DVD produced on any authoring program) and then actually burn your disc or produce the folder or image. On my computer, I find this process will take usually around half an hour or a little more.
Anyway, try all this out and come back to us. You might also want to look at our Tutorial section and especially one on a Suggested Workflow by one of our leading members sjj1805...
Good luck!!!
