I have some video in mpg format I'm trying to split into scenes, and then save off a separate videos. When I try to save one of the trimmed scenes using "Save trimmed video," I get the error: "Unable to compress video with the specific frame rate or frame size." It's all set in 16:9, and it's all set to 29fps, etc., so I don't see where the problem is.
Any ideas what the problem is?

I assume by '29 fps' you really mean the full 29.97 fps of NTSC video... but it would be useful if you could confirm.
16:9 is not a frame size but a proportion. Could you right click on the offending video click within video studio and give us the exact frame size used -- a DVD-compatible frame size for NTSC, for instance, would be 720 x 480 regardless of whether it is 16:9 or not. A frame size of, say, 640 x 480 will not be DVD compatible.
Have you by any chance installed any mega codec pack? It could be that an mpeg codec in such a pack is conflicting with the Main Concept mpeg codec used by Video Studio...

Re: "Unable to compress video...."
Hello,
I have the same problem. When my input .mpg video is 720x480 there is no problem with the function "MPEG OPTIMIZER" but when my input video is something else format I get the message "unable to compress with specified frame rate or frame rate" while creating the output video (just after setting the output video file name). I know that when using "MPEG OPTIMIZER" all the video format are not working but some are. For instance I have tried an input video of 1280x720 as specified for MPEG-2 on the project properties but this doesn't work.
There might be a way to use "MPEG OPTIMIZER" with video of size other than 720x480. But for now I don't know how to do it.
If somebody could help me please...
Thanks for your help

Re: "Unable to compress video...."
Has somebody got a solution for this problem because MPEG2 optimizer doesn't work with a different format than 720x480?

Hi
You are not giving us much in the way of details.
I assume I am using the same Video Studio version as you?
Can you right click the video files and select properties, what are they?
Do this for all types that you are using.
I have just tried to render a variety of video types and sizes, 1920 x 1080, MP4, 640 x 480 wmv, 1280 x 720 mov. Most used the Customised option, (Show Details) a HDMV type activated the Optimal Settings which reflected the video properties, choosing Same as First Video would have done the same.
So I don’t have any problems, I rendered a few with no problems.
Are you able to render / convert your video’s using other templates than using the optimiser ?
