Conversion from Pinnacle
I have been using Pinnacle Studio 8 and got scared off from upgrading to the latest version due to bad reviews. So I downloaded the trial uLead VideoStudio 11 and I like the look of it. However, I have the Pinnacle AV/DV E4 capture card installed which doesn't appear to be supported by the uLead software. Is there anything I can do with this hardware (other than junk it!!) or do I have to get a new capture card? If so, what is recommended? - I have need for both analogue and DV input capture.

It is a pretty sure bet that the pinnacle card will be tweaked to only work with Pinnacle software. You could keep the Pinnacle software you have for capture only then use VS once you have the files on the computer.
Note: VS11 has an acknowledged bug that prevents analogue capture in any way, shape or form.

Hi Lance,
Thanks for that. However, one of the reasons that I have ditched PStudio is that the audio capture lags behind the video by about 0.5 sec in analogue mode!! It didn't when I first installed it - I reckon that one of the so-called 'updates' has caused this, but there's no way to go back - I even re-installed the original software to no avail.
Ok, so no analogue capture - rather shoots it dead for me, I fear. Is this a bug that's going to get fixed, do'y'know, or can I forget it altogether? Does that mean the only way to get video in is via a 1394 port in DV?

The 'word" is that a patch is on the way but let's face it, so is Christmas! This version has been out for about 5 months and they "brilliantly" decided to totally change the capture plugin. Corel have just released a patch for their Ulead DVD authoring program so realistically the VS patch must be very close now.
I guess it's up to you to wait and see or go with something else.
