Does adding a font do funny things?

Post by drdean »

Hi Guys

I'm using MSP7.3 on XP.

Has anybody noticed whether problems occur within existing title box formatting when you add a new font via the the windows directory?

I have a project that I've been working with for some time. It contains many title clips which have moving paths applied to them. However, recently I added a new font to windows. Now it seems that some of the existing title clips have changed font size. The title clips have not been edited but seem to have changed. I'm pretty sure that this is down to installation of the new font but cannot swear by it. It does however seem suspect that the problem is font related.

Does MSP use an indexing system to get to the chosen font or is it embedded in the project somehow?

Has anyone else seen format changes to either font type or font size within a project when installing new fonts?

Cheers

Is your new font of the same family as the one you used in the title?

Hi Devil

Thanks for replying.

No I don't think so. It's a completely different and uncommon font.

I think the problem may be something to do with the moving path that I apply to the title clips. Somehow the original font is getting changed in some way when the new font is added. It's a strange one.

Thanks

Have you tried to temporarily delete the new, installed font to see if that helps? I don't know much about the font mechanism, either within the MSP project or in Windows generally, but if it works using an "index number" scheme, and the index has been thrown out of line with the new font, deleting it may fix the issue.

Not much help if you need to use the new font too, though... :(
