VS11+ uipp.dll error

Post by AlongTheWay »

I purchased VS11+ a few months ago and I have not been able to run it yet. I went through the Corel techs and they could not solve the error. I have reloaded windows (format) 3 times, I have reloaded VS11+ in varous ways in each reload. I have reloaded VS11+ probably 10+ times. I have followed all the tech reload methods and every thread I can find on this forum that relates to the program not running. Well I should say that I can get to each Primary screen in VS11+ Editor, Movie Wizard,or Dv to DVD wizard, and all looks fine until I try to load a video or drag the example one down to the time line. Thats where the failure and the uipp.dll error comes up and of course the send windows the old error report which when you shut off gives you a ulead error. I am close to giving up on this program wondering if my AMD chipset is not compatible with this program (Runs just Great on my old ACER laptop) as I have tried everything that forums and other resources have to offer. But some time ago I loaded the trial version of Media Studio Pro and had a similar error where it would stop before I could load any video. I sort of remember that it was a simple fix but that was a while ago. I tried to find the same thread to hope maybe it may be a help to fix this problem but find it impossible to locate. Does anybody remember seeing Media Studio Pro fix when it would fail on the primary screens?

I'm also having a hard time trying to google uipp.dll and coming up with what that dll actually does.

This probalem has me stumped.

When I get home I'll search for that file and see where it is and try and work out what it does.

I was going to ask what video files are you working with but it seems to have a problem even with the video files VS comes with. Is that correct?

Couple of things you can do though is run a registry cleaner if you feel comfortable doing that. In case there are any unattached registry entries and another thing to try is turning off your modem so you can safely turn off your anti virus/ spyware scanners while installing VS11+ again.

Do a search on this forum for instructions on how to completely uninstall remnants of VS11+

While we wait for Clevo to get through traffic in Sydney.
I notice you have some other software on the computer that would also handle video etc., this may be resulting in a conflict or failure to install full.
You could try uninstalling that other software, run a registry cleaner then install VS and see how you go. If ok then install the next program and re-check VS functionality and so on.
Another alternative is to re-start windows in selective start up mode and re-install that way. Go to Start/Run/msconfig/general and change the start up to "Slective Start up" and then uncheck "Load start up items." Reboot then reload VS. Don't forget to go back and set it back to Normal start up after.

I'm on the night shift this evening....

I found a spanish forum with this problem but Google takes forever to translate the page.

I've deduced so far the file is Video related, it's picked up by spyware scanners and also something to do with Sonic Solutions DVD burning software (perhaps a possible conflict)

Clevo -- if you want to send me a link to the Spanish page, my Castillian is pretty fluent! At the very least, I might be able to give a quicker (and more accurate) translation than the usually haphazard Google one...

Sorry, but as far as I can see, that is just a post of the problem, dating back to August. The poster has exactly the same problem as described above. Here is the post in full:

¿Alguna idea?
Gracias por adelantado.
My translation is: I have installed Ulead VS11+ on a PC which uses Windows Media Center. On opening it, the program works correclty, but on accessing or loading something ["whatever element"] in the library, the program closes and shows a message saying that it had a problem with the file uipp.dll. I tried looking for another version of the file on the internet, but did not find it. The version installed by Video Studio is 0.9.0.0. I also tried installing this same software on another PC using XP and it worked without problems. Any ideas? Thanks in advance."

But there does not seem to be any other post in response to this, let alone any reference to Sonic Solutions. Where did you pick up the latter, Clevo?

Another thread a few days ago on the same forum cites the same problem, but attracts only the unhelpful suggestion to reinstall or test RAM. It does suggest some other program might be blocking the loading of the dll, but does not cite any program that might be doing so. Apparently the dll is loaded by a number of Ulead program, including Video Studio and PhotoImpact. It is also said to be a process monitor for Windows.

For what it is worth, I have the file in my main VS11+ folder, also registered as version 0.9.0.0. It is said to be an Intel file and 4.85 MB in size. Curiously enough, I also found the same file with the same version number in my MF6+ folder, though this time it is shown to be 4.84 MB in size. A google search reveals many possible download sites for versions of the file, though most appear to be less than 1 MB in size...

On second thoughts, a reinstall might be a good idea to ensure that the VS one is the last one on the block and not being overridden somehow by another version of the file in another program installed after you initially installed VS11.

I have it in my system in the C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 11 folder. It stands for Intel IPP. (?)

It's the same file as Ken has.

As for the Sonic. I got that from a Google search and read the brief entries from the results so Sonic might not have anything to do with the problem.

I wouldn't recommend downloading one from the net.

Is it possible to extract that file only from the CD installation disc and placing it manually?

Back to "Intel IPP":

A google search gave many results and this is the first one.

I want to thank everyone for their efforts, I have reloaded VS11+ without any other programs in the computer twice. I have tried selective start up, clean boot etc etc etc. The reason in my original note that I suggested that the AMD chipset is a problem is because I had to rename the ulpp.dll in Photo impact 12 which is file that works with the Intel chipset. And does not work with the AMD. I will plug away at continuing to track down why this particular computer with nothing in it will not run VS11+. And in that maybe I can help somebody else along the way. Thanks again friends. :D
