When I use the import utility to pull the videos off the tape on my HV20, it blocks them on the hard disk into files that are approximately 4.6G in size, which I assume is for manageability.
The problem with this is, for long term storage, organization and retrieval, the actual video clips are all chopped up into these big blocks, with some of them spanning a block or two. I want to be able to create a file archive where the files correspond to actual subjects, with names like:
Mom_1007_visit_001
Dinner_with_friends_0923
etc. But I don't see anywhere in the software where I can just chop and merge actual files into new disk files so that I can accomplish this task. Can someone make a recommendation for me?
Thank you,
g.

I don't think the program should be capturing that way.
I also use this program to capture:

Maybe contact tech support.

It sounds like you have the FAT32 hard drive filing system.
If so you ought to convert your hard drive to NTFS.
It is quick and painless!!

All of my drives are NTFS. I have plenty of files on them that are much larger than these files. In fact, Windows Backup has created several 60+GB files on this disk. This is not something the filesystem is doing.sjj1805 wrote:It sounds like you have the FAT32 hard drive filing system.
