HD import format
HD import format
I am contemplating using MovieFactory to create HD content on standard DVDs. I currently am using another product to edit my content. My question is, what format should I export the content into that I will bring into MovieFactory to create an HD DVD?
If your source videos are HighDefinition HDV then either the PS or TS format.
For best results you should buy MF6+ and install Patch# 2 which fixes many issues with its' original release.
There is also an HD Add-On pack for $20 that can burn avchd disks.
But the original MF6+ with patch# 2 can burn HD-DVD format on standard dvd's to play in the Toshiba players.
Mpeg2 Video - .mpg / .m2t
H264 Video - .m2t / m2ts
A compatible format from another program would be
Framesize = 1440x1080 or 1920x1080 (1440x1080 is HDV Standard)
Fielding = usually UFF (upper field first)
Bit-Rate = 25,000kbs Constant
Audio = mpeg, stereo 48khz, 384kbs (lpcm, dolby also supported)
framerate = 29.97 (ntsc) / 25 (pal)
Program Stream or Transport Stream Format

I don't know, maybe depends on the program.
You can post what program your using, doesn't matter (most of us use other video editors & programs).
If your using the other programs templates you have to know whether the templates are producing the video & audio or elementary streams which ends up with 2 files, 1 video file & 1 audio file, MF6+ can import the elementary streams, you load the video first .m2v & add the audio under the edit screen.
HDV2 sounds like a mainconcept term used in the mainconcept encoder.
As far as I know ulead calls 1920 HD while HDV 1440 is a broadcast standard.
Usually whatever you pull into MF6+ it will burn it to HD-DVD, even standard defintion video, as long as the videos are compliant mpeg2 files, SD or HD.

That's correct, and the trial version is similar to the original release of Mf6+ so I don't know if you do try the trial version if it will pick up the fielding correctly in the video. You could try it anyway, it will probably work.
When you use ulead products make sure to have the latest version of Directx installed from the MS website. The updates to Directx 9.0c must be installed. I think the latest update was in August 2007.
I don't have either of those 2 programs so I'm not familar with their templates. Avid is a pretty advanced editior I thought.
