I purchased MSP8 just before my PC died. It ran XP. I purchased a new laptop running Vista. We all know MSP8 does not work on Vista without some tweaks.
Corel Support told me to run MSP in Compatibility Mode. It did not work.
Where are these patches that are mentioned on the Got Vista page of the Ulead website?
Support have not offered to send me these. I had already tried Compatibility Mode and I told them that.
Any help/similar experiences please?
Why have Corel ignored my Vista query?
This subject has been touched on ad nauseam in this forum. Please search Vista and you will find all the answers. No need to repeat everything for the nth time

Hi
thanks SJJ - that's helpful and I'll try it.
Devil, thanks for the reply but after spending that sort of money on the software I don't think I should have to search for this information, particularly as Corel are trumpeting on the website that all their software works with Vista, which it clearly doesn't; well, not without tweaks that most people wouldn't be comfortable trying.
I'm a trainer and I can count on the fingers of a centipede the times that people have asked the same question about, for instance, Excel. The customer service trick is to pretend it's the first time someone has asked this. Well, the GOOD customer service, anyway.

That's hilarious.msmuffin wrote:Devil, thanks for the reply but after spending that sort of money on the software I don't think I should have to search for this information...
In my quarter-century of writing and using software, I've only ever come across one software company that has the attitude you describe, and their application will cost you ¢G35,000 ($68,000) per seat.
You might not be aware that this forum, while hosted by Ulead/Corel/Intervideo/Whatever they are called this week; it is really only inhabited by users knowledgeable and generous with their time. So if you can't be a*sed to do a search for your answer, don't be surprised if other people can't be a*sed to help.

I wasn't going to reply until this last attack came. Obviously msmuffin has an attitude and I'm glad I have never had to ask for advice from her (?). As soon as someone tells me that I'm the first person to have a given problem, I know that "trainer" is not telling the truth and my estimation of the quality of the response drops through the floor; and (s)he calls that "Well, the GOOD customer service, anyway."!
As a 'generous expert' (your term, not mine), I give hours of my time to this and other forums with nothing in return (and I expect nothing, although the occasional message of thanks for the help does lift my spirits). I make no excuses for my first response. You clearly have not read and acted on the PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING thread. The very first paragraph says:
The next time you ask a question here, please be so kind as to help yourself, because we like helping those who do just that, rather than those who make snide comments about the people who try to help you.

Nor have you acted on the rest of these instructions. Your attitude shows that you are above reading such matter or acting on them. Before asking questions in this forum, have you checked everything in the USER MANUAL and README of the program? Also, please look in the Corel KNOWLEDGE BASE. Then use SEARCH because someone may have already asked the same question.

I don't class myself as a "generous expert", so no (I'm assuming that quip was aimed at me).msmuffin wrote:These 'generous experts' you describe - are these the people who are far too busy helping people to join in other people's discussions or to add fruitless jibes to them?
Most of the help I give is on a different forum, partly because it was there that I got most of the help I needed when I was starting out, but mostly because questions posted here have been answered by the time I get to see them.
Anyway - if you don't understand the significance of "Ulead techs don't participate here" then you're pretty much beyond hope anyway. Have you ever heard of the phrase "Biting the hand that feeds you"?
