HDV to SD downconvert audio video sync problems

Post by zwgirton »

I have a 120minute video that looks great rendered out to mpg2 in HDV 1440x1080, but is 15gigs. I am trying to render to NTSC DVD is Media Studio Pro 7.0 in order to fit on DVD and can make it small enough, but I am having audio video sync issues, especially towards the middle and end of the video! Has anyone experienced these issues and successfully solved it? Any suggestions would be great! My raw footage was shot with 2 Sony FX-1s in HDV and edited in MSP7.0. Thanks in advance!

Considered H.264?

I haven't had this (also use MSP8) with HD, but have with SD material.

One method I tend to do these days is to render out to AVI uncompressed (yes, insane disk requirements but it's temporary and I'm thinking of getting the Neo IC), then convert to SD or particularly into H264. I don't know what you're target is, but if you just want to be able to fit the material onto dvd media, and can playback h264, you'd be able to keep the HD. Probably the VC1 profile of windows media encoder 9 is the most practical at the moment. I haven't had synch issues with doing this.

Congratulations on producing a 2 hour HD production btw!
