Placing Video into the Video Track
Can someone tell me how to place a vid clip into the Video track.Every time i try it places the video at the start of the track but i need to place it at a set point in the presentation.I can place the vid anywhere i like in the overlay tracks but not in the video track.I know its probably a very simple thing to do but its frustrating me so can I have some ideas please.

Welcome to the forums,
VS is doing as it should. With video there can not be any "blank" spaces. VS conveniently takes care of that, by sliding any videos right of a "blank" space to the left.
In order to do as you're wanting you need to fill that space with a color clip. Color clips are found, by clicking on the drop-down arrow, beside what is the default Video. They can be set to whatever duration needed.
If you have an image, title, or video clip in the overlay track, those will be on top of the color clip.
