Project viewing - UVS 9.0

Post by monnerat »

Hello,

I am a VideoStudio user since 2001. Starting with version four I upgraded till 9 and had no problems so far. Recently I started to have difficulties.
I face no problems when seeing edited clips one by one, but when I join these in the timeline and try to see the project, image viewing is quite irregular jumping and stopping. If I save the project the deffects are also saved. Transition effects doesn't appear.

I made a clean uninstallation of all versions in my computer: UVS4, UVS7 and UVS9, as well as, Cool 3D. As I didn't have the instruction for 4 and 7 I followed UVS 9 one, but not having specific instructions I possibly left something behind (numbered folders in the Registry and InstallShield Installation Information).
After doing such I reinstalled the same versions (the only CD is for 4, all others are upgrades that demand a previous version in the computer) and again uninstalled versions 4 and 7 leaving only 9.

Despite this I still have the same viewing irregularity. Would anyone have suggestions?

Where can I get instructions to manually uninstall completely versions 4 and 7 plus Cool 3D?
Suppose I would do this complete uninstallation and then download the full version of UVS11 Plus. Would it run properly without the described problems to see the project?

Could I be facing conflicts with other software? Except for updates all software I have is the same along the years.

Some details of my machine and software: Windows XP SP2, 512 MB of RAM, OS Drive - 12.6 GB (free 1.2 GB) plus 340 GB in other HDs, all 7200 RPM, graph board NVIDIA GEForce 4 MX-4000

Thanks

It sounds to me as if you are running out of recources. Close any un-neccessary programs running in the back ground.

You also don't mention what video file types you are working with or if you have multiple file types in the same timeline.

With all that installing and uninstalling it could be time to defrag your HD and do some general tidying up.

In the VS File > Preferences, where do you have your working folder? By default it will be in the OS drive in My Documents\. And if you only have 1.2 GB free on that, then as Clevo suggests, you are running out of space and will need to reset the working folder to another drive. Remember to do this separate in the burning module Preferences (in the first icon in bottom left of screen) as this too normally defaults to the OS drive.

Hi Clevo and Ken,

1st - thanks for the promptness

2nd - I have been in your Australia twice (Sidney and Melbourne)
and love it

3rd - yes, the partition where is the XP and programs is short of space, but when working with UVS I use a SATA HD with 260 GB free.

4th - This resources situation exists for more than one year and all was running smoothly. This jumping and stopping project viewing difficulty has less than 2 months.

I will try to save some space on the XP partition, but would you anyway, based on this new information above, have any other suggestions

Thanks again
