I got sick of Vista and installed a new drive on my computer with XP Pro.
Now I am unable to activate VideoStudio 10. I am copying and pasting the activation code from my email I received from "element 5" when I purchased last year.
At first I received a message that my activation code was invalid. I search through here and FAQ's and disabled Norton AntiVirus and now get an error that the server cannot be contacted and to check my internet connection.
I have tried to two different connections to the internet (both work to access ULead's site) and have disabled Windows firewall and Norton AntiVirus, per instructions.
What do I do to activate the product? I have it on the same computer as was running Vista, so I'm not installing it on a second computer.
Thanks.
Activation problem

I don't know if this will work but no harm in trying.
Go to the Windows Registry in Vista and locate the entry for VideoStudio
it will be under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems.
Export this is a registry file.
Now restart XP and import the registry file.
This might or might not work - matter of try and see.

That did not work, but it gave me a thought to try. I copied the entire ULead Systems folder from program files on the Vista drive over to program files on the XP drive.sjj1805 wrote:I don't know if this will work but no harm in trying.

I started the program and it didn't prompt me to activate, so I'll consider that a potential victory. It did run fine, but I really didn't "use" it for anything yet.
Here would be my remaining question at this point...
The Vista installation had the Vista 5-in-1 patch for VS 10.0. Might that cause me a problem running on XP? Should I over-install the 5-in-1 patch for XP or just leave well enough alone and hope it all works properly when I go to use it for something?
Thanks again.

And now upon rebooting the computer I get the u32cfg "security information invalid" message I see has been posted on here before.
As with the others, I DID buy the product from element5 via a link from the ULead site and was instructed to download a file with TBYB in the filename so apparently I'm part of that fiasco now.
What's the best thing to do? Contact ULead support?
I still have my email recept from element5 and can run the program without errors from the Vista drive so I can get at my serial number.
