border/shadow/transparency problems

All of a sudden I cannot use my border/shadow/transparency on my Ulead Video Studio 10+. I get the message that Ulead has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. The error message being : AppName vstudio.exe AppVer: 10.0.0.0 modName mfc42.dll - 6.2.4131.0 - offset 00006077. I have uninstalled UVS from disc and reinstalled again, but it has not helped. I have also re-registered the mfc42.dll file.

Any ideas? (by the way my UVS10+ was an upgrade from the internet onto Video Studio 8. I have the original Video Studio 8 and a download copy on CD of Ulead Video Studio 10+)
