Scene Splitting Help
I need help. I have a problem with the auto-splitting. Everytime I tell Ulead to split an episode it splits it into several hundred pieces that are less than a second. I don't need anything under 5 seconds. Can somebody help me.

Yes but only DV AVI and I would like to point out you still haven't answered the question as to what type of file. AVI is a wrapper and could be DV avi, MPEG4, Divx, Xvid etc. So,
When the dialogue box opens for "Split by Scene" if the file is DV AVI you will have the choice of using the timestamp on it to do the splitting. The other chioce is "Frame Content" and this looks for changes in scene that would indicate the need to create a separate file at that point.
If your file is other than DV AVI you can only use the Frame Content method as there is no usable timestamp. There is an additional "Options" button on that dialogue box that allows you to adjust the sensitivity of the scene detection. If you are getting too many clips try lowering that sensitivity.

Given that DivX is a distribution format and not an editing format I very much doubt the auto function you are trying to use will work very well if at all.
Unless someone else has a suggestion I think you are where you are!
You could possibly convert to MPEG2 and try that but I think that may introduce it's own problems.
To split the audio just right click the clip in the timeline and you will get that option.
