I have been using VS11 (trial) for the past 8 days after using VS9 since it came out. VS9 although not perfect performed everything ti was suppose to do with ease and when asked. VS11 although having some great new features which improve it over VS9 One area where it is a dismal failure is in menu creation when making a DVD.
I have tried VS11 on both XP and Vista (I dual boot) and on both OS it cannot create a decent menu. It will NOT allow me to create my own menu I MUST use VS11s auto generated one. IF I try and change the time between menu points VS11 just crashes.
I emailed Corel and they stated that there must be at least 1 minute of video to create a menu point. That is totally useless when combining movie and Slides on a compilation DVD. To see if Corel were correct I attempted to make a menu in a 30 minute movie with EXACTLY the same result The ADD CHAPTERS is greyed out and NO video is displayed in the display panel.
After emailing Corel back they say they don't support the trial version and to ask in here.
Well Ia m asking does anyone else have this problem and I for one am not willing to spend my hard earned cash on a product that does not work as it is suppose to and one where the manufacturer don't seem to care about potential customers.
Yes I am a tad annoyed as I spent hours creating a compilation of my sons wedding using both video and slides and then I cant make chapters in the menu. Oh and one other little thing the VSP file from VS11 cant be opened in VS9 so I can create a menu.. What happened to compatibility
I will now get off my soap box
Menu creation problems

Thanks wai2, So it looks like I was right VS11 sucks if you are using VISTA Maybe Ulead will get off their backsides quickly and produce a patch for VS11 for Vista so that it does work. It appears 90% of people cant get the chapter menus to work in Vista BUT some can which is even more strange...
It would be nice if Corel admitted they had a problem and said they were trying to fix it instead of just pushing potential customers aside

Re: Menu creation problems
But of course it can't - I have yet to see a program - any program - that is forward compatible. Programs are generally backward compatible - in other words you could create a vsp file in VS9 and open that in VS11 but not the other way round.oz4me wrote:..... Regarding Vista, I have VideoStudio 11+ fully functional on 2 of my Vista Systems.
Now why would anyone want a chapter point less than 1 minute from a previous chapter point? Just imagine for a moment a Hollywood blockbuster movie lasting 2 hours. Imagine now if they place chapter points every minute. So that would be 120 chapter points.
If you now had a DVD Menu with 6 thumbnails per page you would have a menu structure with 20 pages of thumbnails. In fact you would very likely lose half the space on your DVD disc to the Menus alone!

I take exception to that. I have a dvd of a concert and each song is a chapter!
but I can't make it work because it crashes while putting in the names... every time!

Looking at your system requirements, it may a 4gig RAM issue.. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929605/en-us

yes, I don't get the benefit of all 4 gigs.. but why would that cause it to freeze up? 3+ is plenty of RAM!!!
