I am a long-time Corel Draw user and I also own an old version of PhotoImpact (v5) and was thinking about purchasing PhotoImpact 12.
I would like to know if I purchase PhotoImpact 12 what is Corel's policy for free upgrades to the next version. Usually it's something like 30-60 days but I'm trying to decide if I should go ahead and buy v12 or just hold out for X3.
Any suggestions?

I don't know the release date of PhotoImpact 13 but previous versions have appeared around about this time of the year. It might be in your interests to wait a few weeks.

Not from the Corel online store.
You can purchase many of the Corel products from other online sources such as Cnet. Do a Google Search but be wary of purchasing from an unknown source and certainly do not purchase from a private seller otherwise you may end up with a pirated version or one previously registered.

Ok, I've been waiting for an announcement on the Ulead websight for a couple of weeks now, and everyday there isn't one. X3 has already been released in Japan and the demo is available for download. I had assumed that an English version would be out before Christmas so that it could be a stocking stuffer at the holiday time. But time is growing short, and it still hasn't been released. Does anyone here know whether there will be an announcement before Christmas or is it going to be a new year release. I got the money in my pocket now, I don't know what I'll have in January.

Well I guess if they don't release it until after January, you may not have the cash in your pocket.TwiceWise wrote:Ok, I've been waiting for an announcement on the Ulead websight for a couple of weeks now, and everyday there isn't one. It's been stated before, that about the only forums any possible rep from Corel may monitor is the Wishlist, and ones specifically created by a rep, such as bignosetw. Also that all active moderators, and Admins are just users like yourself, and have no inside information as to when a version or product is going to be released. I'm sorry but if you're holding your breath, you're most likely going to turn blue soon..
Let's see, cost, PI costs a lot less than PS, PI is much more user friendly, meaning a lesser learning curve, this forum that provides free support for PI and other Ulead branded products, from people that happily volunteer their time to help, should I continue on?immersive wrote:The lack of support for PI really upsets me. Now since Corel purchased them, who knows what will happen. I like PI a lot, but how long can I continue to use an outdated product? I wonder why anyone would choose PI over just downloading PhotoShop?
Outdated product? So far PI-12 is the current release. Ulead (Corel) does not consider a version as a phased-out version for at least 3 versions, which is typically 3 years. So how is a product that was released last year, now outdated?
On the other hand, if you feel that PS is so much better than PI, then why are you using PI?
