Audio out of sync VS10+

Post by tvranjes »

Hi, I did a large project using VS10+ and part way through the audio slips out of sync. When I look at each before rendering it is fine, but during rendering it goes out of sync. What can I do about this?

Please search the forum for OOS (out of sync), get yourself a cup of coffee and start reading

It is quite common to get that sort of a problem when editing mpeg2 files.

And if you have SmartRender activated for the render, turn it off.

Come to that, can you confirm when in the process you do the render. My comment above applies if you finished your editing, then (as we recommend) went to Share > Create Video File > DVD. This will produce a DVD compliant mpeg-2 file which you burn to disc as a separate step. If you are doing this, and the out of sync problem occurs, then disable Smart Render.

If you are instead finishing your editing then going straight to the burning module, with the rendering takes place during the burning process, then you are only asking for trouble of the kind you have got. Instead of doing that, try the work flow I recommended above.

Once you have your mpeg-2, save your project, then open a new one. Don't worry about a name for it -- the objective is just to clear the timeline.

Then you go to Share > Create Disc, insert your new mpeg-2 into the burning timeline, make your menu and burn. Also, make sure 'do not convert compliant mpeg files' is ticked in the middle of the three icons in the bottom left of the burning screen. You should not have to adjust any of the properties in the burn module and the do not convert box will ensure that the video is not rendered in the burning module.

Thanks guys, I'll try turning off SmartRender. Hopefully that's all it will take.
