VS 10 ; choosing appropriate music to enhance home video

Post by olsonju »

I have sampled the music available in video studio 10 and see that the choices are limited. I understand that I can import audio from my own sources. Do you have suggestions for obtaining music? I am realizing that it is time consuming to find the appropriate music for a video. I am wondering how others have found suitable music for their videos. I've started to listen to my own CD collection, but I haven't found anything that I like.

Someone might be able to reply about when smart-sounds was introduced into which version. in VS11+ the smartsound library is quite reasonable but really not my style of music. While they have different themes there is a very American-esq quality about them that doesn;t fit in with wht I generally tend to do.

Recently I completed a 15 minute slide show project as a birthday gift and I simply asked here what her favourite music was. I had most of the CD's and burrowed ones I didn't.

You can also do a google search for any free sound FX out there or royalty free instrumental tracks.

SmartSound comes with VS. You can purchase more music from their site.

Digital Juice has great, high-quality music. A bit pricey, but they are always having deals. You just have to be patient.

The Ilovewavs.com site has music from movies and tv shows, so using music from that site would be infringing on someone's rights   but that's a whole other can o' worms.

Maybe Steve could add those to the Free Stuff thread.

Ah - you just beat me to it Jeff - I was just elaborating on that last site at exactly the same time as you posted.

Anyone thinking of using .wavs from there should also read :-

There's some good stuff there, though. Of course, for personal use only  .

No need - the smartsound works with VideoStudio anyway.
The advantage though of having SonicFire Pro is it contains wizards that help you locate the music you want quickly be stating things like
type of music e.g. classical
Mood e.g. atmospheric
plus a few other keywords.
