Convert step got some problems ! (4570)
I am using Movie Factory 4.0 Disk Creator. I tried to burn a DVD this evening and got the above error (I think it is poor english, but thats what it said).
After clicking OK, I received another error message with the following: Report ID: 0x800411da(4570).
What am I doing wrong and how can I fix it ?

It usually related with the source file you use. What's the properties of the source file?

I too have seen this error - at least twice now.
On both occasions it occurred when creating a DVD Slideshow out of a number of digital photos. Pretty straightforward project I would have thought.
I have a very large disk capacity (NTFS and >70GB free) and I do have Norton Antivirus running in the background (not sure if that is relevant).
The last failure occurred with a slideshow of approx 40 photos only and background music added. Source files appear to be OK but one photo is rotated 90deg - I may remove it and see if it makes any difference.
Obviously it would make it a whole lot easier if the error message were more descriptive and Ulead could provide a list of error codes and their possible causes ...

I sent an e-mail to tech support an received the following recommendation to completely remove MovieFatory 4.0 and reinstall:
Perform a Clean Remove of the program from your system. You may or may not find all entries in the list.
1. Launch Windows Explorer and go to
"Tools > Folder Options > View" to check "show hidden files and folders".
2. Please purge/delete all the files in these folders:
"C:\Windows\Temp"
“C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Temp” (for WinXP and 2000)
"My Documents\Ulead DVD MovieFactory\4.0" (Working Folder)
3. Go to "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems"
4. Delete the folder for MovieFactory 4.0
5. Delete "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems". If a file says it cannot be deleted, open the Task Manager and end the process named "ulcdrsvr.exe" then delete the folder again.
6. Go to "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information"
7. Delete the folder "{448AB2CB-C94A-47DE-80B8-9D7824DEFA57}"
8. Go to Start-->Run
9. type "regedit"
10. Go to
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory"
and
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead DMF"
11. Delete the folder "4.0" for both locations.
12. Go to
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory"
and
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead DMF"
13. Delete the folder "4.0" for both locations.
14.Close "Regedit"
15.Restart Windows
16.Reinstall MovieFactory 4
After doing this an trying to burn another DVD I receive the same error message about 2 hours into the process.

Thanks for your suggestion. I uninstalled all Ulead components still on the PC that were related in any way to MovieFactory or Disc Creator (remnants left after successive upgrades).
I also cleared the temp directories and ran Norton WinDoctor to clear up invalid registry settings (quicker than using RegEdit).
Then I re-installed Disc Creator 4 and tried to create the SlideShow again. This time it created the disc without problems !
I will not be convinced that the problem is solved however until I have created a few more without error.

Got another reply from technical support. There suggestion was to clear the temporary files before burning. This had no affect.
My project consist of six .AVI files created by MediaStudio Pro 7.0 and six slide shows created within Movie Factory 4.0. I divided this project into two projects one with just the .AVI files and the with just the Movie Factory 4.0 slide shows. The project with just the .AVI files burned without a problem. The project with just the Movie Facotyr 4.0 slide shows cause the error every time.
Any Ideas ?

Error #4570
I seem to have narrowed down the problem with error #4570 to the slideshow audio background. When I burn with an MP3 or WMA audio background, I get "convert step got problems", but when I remove the audio it appears to convert just fine. By the way, I am using the "create video DVD" option, in order to put AVIs and photos on the disk.
Can anyone else confirm this as the cause? Any solution other than waiting for a patch? I am using the trial version and do not intend to buy it if this function does not work.

I have spent much of today verifying the same thing.
First I reduced my project from 6 slide shows down to one slide show. Result, the same 4570 error.
Next I removed the audio background and the project burned without a problem.
My original project used and MP3 audio.
Next, I converted my audio to and an MPA file using MediaStudio Pro 7's Audio Editor. This resulted in the same 4570 error.
Next, I converted my audio to a WMA file using MediaStudio Pro 7's Audio Editor. This resulted in the same 4570 error.
Next, I converted my audio to a WAV file using Dell Music Match Jukebox 10. This resulted in the same 4570 error.
Finally, I used one of the stock MPA music files that comes with Music Factory 4.0. This resulted in the same 4570 error.
Incidently my menu background music is an MP3 file that works fine when I am burning an AVI file.

Sounds like you did a thorough evaluation! Thanks for writing in to back me up on this. After reading all that you did, I can't think of anything right now to try. A DVD slide show is pretty useless without music.
I get the feeling we are all beta testing this new release. What a shame. MF3 basically worked fine, though it had a few bugs. You would think they'd "first do no harm" in putting out a new version. MF4 is a step backward.
If you find a work-around, I'd appreciate hearing about it, and I'll do the same.

This is very interesting.
Started a new project
Added a slide show with three slides and an MP3 music background. Result: Burns in about 1 minute.
I went back and clicked on the slide show title and changed it from "My Slideshow" to "My Slide Show". Result: Burns without a problem.
I went back and clicked on the slide show title again and this time inserted a carriage return between "My" and "Slide", and removed the space so that it displayed as two lines. Result: Error 4570 is generated.
I went back and deleted the music background from the slide show. Results: Burns without a problem.
What do you make of that ?

Convert step got some problems! (4570)
1st ... STUPID error message....
2nd Could not get the Slideshow DVD I was trying to make made
unitl I removed ALL carriage returns from the chapter titles.
Example:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This
Breaks the
Software
This Does Not Break The Software
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sounds simplistic and it's a shame but this worked for me.
Using Ulead DVD MovieFactory 4.0
I think 3 was better... and the uninstall installs for these
programs levae a lot be disired also, sorry.
