Hope you're sitting comfortably, this is a long thread - but I believe very important to perhaps many!
I started with vers.7 had perpetual problems with crashing - went to ver.9 still crashed - upgraded my computer major, installed a separate drive dedicated to Ulead, still crashed. Went to UVS11+ still crashed. Then came the breakthrough!!! When I say crashed, I always had a splash screen informing me that 'Microsoft has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience'.
Earlier today, I discovered that instead of clicking on the options to 'Send or Don't send error report' I could continue working with the programme -Strange? Instead of clicking on Don't Send, I just moved the splash screen to one side. Continued working and saved my project. Then clicked on the splash screen (which of course ended the programme) then restarted ulead and all was as it should be, including work continued after the error screen? So, I went on the net to find out how to disable the Microsoft Error reporting service, disabled it, and put Ulead through real mega paces. Including burning (WITH the internet running including all background services (theres a test!). No crashing whatsoever!!
In an earlier post of mine I indicated my frustration that my wife could run ulead on a very low spec laptop with no problems at all, but, she did not have the 'error reporting service installed!'.
I hope this thread can help others out there suffering similar problems to myself. Would be glad to hear your feelings, explanations and perhaps positive outcomes as I have had.
MAMMOTH ADVANCE IN ULEAD CRASH PREVENTION!!!!

I used to be able to ignore the splash screen message in previous versions, but on my v10+ I can't move it out of the way or save my project. Have to hit send/don't send and then it closes. Doesn't happen very often, but annoying nontheless when it does.
So how do you disable the MS error reporting?

I hate to rain on peoples' parade, but the work-around is also one which was 'discovered' at least three years ago, but probably longer, and not just by one person. Over the years, I well recall a number of users noting that they would get the error/report message, but just move it aside and proceed with their editing...

What are the side effect of disableing this process
Would it mask other application problems..... In other words, would you actually want to know when other applications are having problems?

The procedure outlined above for turning off error reporting will only get rid of the annoying "Do you want to tell Microsoft" nag box. I turn mine off as soon as I install a fresh copy of windows.
To view your error messages:
Right click "My Computer" on your desktop and select "Manage"
Expand "Event Viewer" and then look at the entries under
1. Application
2. Software
The error messages cover a wide range computer related events, just view the lists and you will soon get the idea of what is included.
