I just bought a sony hdr - sr7 camcorder. It is a Hard Drive High definition camera and i use Ulead 11 plus to edit the footage. My problem is that Ulead 11 plus cant read the AVCHD videos i captured using my camera. It doesnt recognize it. But when i switch the capture settings to SD Ulead 11 plus can read it. Another thing when capturing or using Ulead 11 plus to detect my camera it says cannot something like problem with capture card... I just bought my HD camera and i really want to edit my HD footage already.

Only you know if the Sony software converts the avchd files to standard defintion or high definition. If you use the Sony software to convert the avchd videos what are the resolutions of the new mpeg2 video files. You can render HighDefintion video files more without noticeable loss compared to standard definition video files. Sometimes you don't have a choice if you want to edit the video. But I've converted avchd video files to hd-mpeg2 in MF6+ with patch2 installed and it's really an excellent conversion.I looked around in the first 2 posts no solution..... Is there a solution to this problem???? To edit the HD footage i hav to use a sony picture browser to convert to mpeg 2 format but doesnt that degrade the quality of the video????
You don't capture from a avchd cam, you import the videos. (Basically transfer them from the cam to the harddisk).
You put the cam into computer mode, plug it into the computer, the computer assigns a drive letter to the cam. Then use VS11+ import from dvd/-vr feature to import from the assigned drive letter that windows assigned to the cam. In the import from dvd module you can also browse to the cam and highlight the avchd or BDMV directory on the drive assigned to the cam.
You want to edit the avchd video files. Can you at least play them back in your computer without any problems? Your listing a Turion 64x2 processor, curious if you can play the videos back without dropping frames or locking the computer up..
