File Format Mismatch - trying to insert VS11+ Project Files

Post by pinkhouse »

I am creating clips lasting about 30 seconds as mini-movies, for incorporation into a longer one (community cinema's advertising). I create these in VS11+, and save them as a project file. When I attempt to insert such a project into either the video-library or the timeline of another (open) project, I get the message "file format mismatch".

That seems strange, since it was saved from within VS11+ as a VS11+ format project.

Is it the case, though, that project files cannot be added to libraries? Must I first go through the "share" procedure, and save them as an mpeg video file?

I don't think a vsp can be added to a library, but you should be able to insert it into the timeline. I know this is possible with VS10, however, I was not impressed with the resulting quality.

What I ended up doing was rendering my clip to an avi file, then inserted that into my new project.

I just created and saved a short test VSP file.
Started a new project.
Imported the vsp file to the timeline (with insert video)
I was then able to drag the vsp file up into the library.

Bear in mind though that your vsp source files must remain where they currently reside otherwise you mess up the vsp file.

VSP files and library

Well, dang ma hide, as we say in Shropshire. This time, after being switched off for a bit, it worked without any hitches - inserted directly into the library, even.

"Now't so strange as VideoStudio", to use another dialectical expression.
