video preview playback zooms in
When playing clips the video zooms in (or changes the resolution?). When I mute the sound or play with the attribute tab clicked, it plays it back normally. It seems when it has to process the video for playback, it displays it normal, yet when just playing back a clip, it zooms it in for some reason. Before playing the clip, it shows the first frame at normal size, then when I play it zooms in.
Any ideas why this happens?
Using VS10plus
Video properties: DV, avi files, 720x480 4:3 29.97 fps NTSC
Thanks

Is that better?
I updated my post.
I updated my system info and couldn't find anything in the user manuals/knowedge base.
Anything else?

Do your project properties match the video properties?whitejames wrote:I updated my post.

The clip that zooms in...is that per chance on the overlay track?

How do you play from the library without a project?whitejames wrote:Yes, the clip properties match the project properties.
Every clip is doing this in the project. Even if no project is opened and I just play a file from the library it happens.
Thanks for the reply though.
Does the same happen when you play the file with MediaPlayer?

I can't get my head around what's happening here.
It's obviously not a problem unique to VS as it happen in Window Media Player. So we can strike out project or attribute setting in VS.
I was thinking it may have been put in the overlay track and then your toggling between clip playback to project playback
So, just so I have it right. The video clip zooms in when you press play.
OK...so.... is this a gradual zoom in, like is it a smooth zoom in or does it happen suddenly, like you press play then bang...it zooms in? What happens when you pause the clip being played...does it go back to being un-zoomed (ie Normal)?
Was the video sourced from a camcorder? I suspect it is with those attributes you posted. But that doesn;t explain the zoom in.
I doubt it's the graphics card but will be interested to hear back is some tweak on the graphic card fixes this problem.
I must admit I'm stumped on this one.

It may be helpful if we had more information. Please provide the complete properties of one of your clips (similar to below).
File Format: Microsoft AVI files - Open DML
File Size: 37,542 KB
Frame rate: 29.97 fps
Duration: 10.677 seconds
Data rate: 3512.11 kbps
Compression: DV Video Encoder Type 1
Attributes: 24 bits, 720 x 480, 4:3
Total frames: 320
Compression: DV Audio-NTSC
Attributes: 48.000 kHz, 16 bit, stereo
Total samples: 512,512 samples
Also provide your project properties (File > Project Properties).
Where did these avi files come from? How did you get them into your computer? AVI is just a wrapper, so they could be a compressed format such as DivX, which sometimes cause problems.

Those are the exact properties of the files, lol, thanks. They're from a DV camcorder.
It happened, (yes happened), only with avi files, not mpg or others (weird).
It was actually stretching/zooming/changing resolution so only the top half of the video is visible and everything looked skinny (weirder).
It was sudden, not gradual, and went back to normal when paused.
To make a long story short, it's still a mystery why, but updating my nvidia video drivers from 163.67 beta to the 163.69 verified video drivers fixed the problem. It probably wasn't the new drivers so much as just a need to reinstall the drivers, as they're basically the same.
I haven't looked at video or edited video on my computer for a couple months, so I don't know when it started. But it was normal before that. I suspect it started when I had to use my 62" HDTV for a monitor for a week while I got a new LCD monitor. That HDTV caused all kinds of havoc with my computer and never worked well with the resolution (I messed with alot of settings to get it to look kind of right). But I don't know, it's just a guess.
Something ??? was wrong with the video drivers. It seems every new driver they come out with fixes one thing and causes another.
Anyway, thanks for all the input everyone.
