capture problems with VS11 and afew other problems i have

Post by project mayhem »

So i went out and paid 60 pound for this and im having some problems. :(

I have some questions hope you guys can help me.

1) I have a DV Sony DCR-HC35E handycam, and when i go to capture mode it wont let me capture in AVI format, i get some error message saying "Cannot start the capture graph." So what is wrong?

2) Another thing is when i capture from DV to DVD mode, my footage comes out very shaky looking and i get some odd popping and squeaking sound when viewing the ripped movie and the fps dont seem right.

3) When using DV quick scan (not sure what this is for?) nothing happens and nothing highlighted to use.

3) When making and editing a movie, what is the best format to save in when using "Create Video File" for DVD and Internet? because the is loads to pick from.

4) I dont have the best PC but it sure meets the system requirements, sometimes i get major slowdown when editing videos... i never had this problem when using Roxio Videowave 8 or Sony Vags on my pc, so whats going on? this can happen when just joinging 2 short clips in the time line. I hear some video formats like XVID and some AVI types may cause this problem... so what is the best format to work with in VS11 without losing too much quality.

5) When editing a video clips, is the a way to mirror the video image? cos all i see is rotate mode.

6) Is the a way to blur out watermarks and not just distort it.

7) Is the away to play 2 clips at the same time without having the clips side by side? like when 2 clips are in transition and you see both clips playing within each other before it fades in to the next clip. is the a way to keep them both playing but not as a quick transition.

1) Ensure you are capturing through a firewire port with your camcorder set in "play" mode. Does windows recognise the camcorder as another drive?

2) Capture in DV/AVI and make sure your project settings (refer to manual) match the properties of the video.

3) I have never used this

4) yes there are...saving to DVD is different to saving for internet. There are also lots of ways to save for internet. We will need to know exactly what and perhaps we can offer advice. For DVD it simply PAL DVD mpeg2

5) Not sure about this one

6) Blurring is distorting it. If the watermark is in the same spot you can use one of the filters. Have forgotten the name of it now as I rearely use it. But it is possible

7) Yes, place second clip on the overlay track...that's what it's there for. Once on the overlay track you can grab the corner handles and re-size to how you want it. You cannot place transitions in the overlay track though but you can adjust it's attributes to fade in and out and move across the screen etc.

Look on the main part of this forum for the section on tutorials. It's very handy

Post by yapster2001 »

hello

I just bought a sony hdr - sr7 camcorder. It is a Hard Drive High definition camera and i use Ulead 11 plus to edit the footage. My problem is that Ulead 11 plus cant read the AVCHD videos i captured using my camera. It doesnt recognize it. But when i switch the capture settings to SD Ulead 11 plus can read it. Another thing when capturing or using Ulead 11 plus to detect my camera it says cannot something like problem with capture card... I just bought my HD camera and i really want to edit my HD footage already.
