Relinking Problem

Post by ffxdean »

Well actually i had this problem ever since Ulead 10. When I relink a file it comes up with the error stating that the file should be longer and therefore cannot continue. Is there anyway i can relink it even though its a bit shorter: 0.01seconds. Its not even half a second?

thankyou

You shouldn't alter any source file while working on a project. The only way to overcome this problem afterwards is to delete the clip from the time line and enter the linked file. Editing steps taken before on the deleted file will be lost. How did you end up having to relink the files in the first place?

well my hard drive corrupted so i had to re-rip the file back on the hard drive from the DVD. I made a music video and now do i have to replace and re-edit all the files all over again and replace the effects, speed etc? theres about 1 billion edited clips on the timeline not to mention the video which is overlayed. I actually didnt even use the end of the clip, i only used bits from the start and the middle. I cant believe that 0.01 seconds of the movie can affect a whole project. In my opininon this should be fixed, as in other programs: Magix, premiere, showbiz etc they dont have this restriction, and even if its shorter than the original it just appears to be a blackscreen. I believe this should be the same as VS (but unforutnatley its not.

Delete thumbnail from Library....

Re import that clip into the library (the one that's slightly different)

This may effect that one particular clip in the timeline...if so... replace that clip with the new linked one in the library. You might need to re-edit that particular clip.

make sure ripple editing is turned on.
