WinDVD BD 8 - no HDMI audio output

Post by sedimentari »

I'm running WinDVD BD 8 version 8.0.8.95 on the Sony VAIO VGN-AR38G.
It runs fine on the laptop but when I use the HDMI connection to my HDTV there is no sound.
When I go into audio tab in the setup, the Audio Output Configuration is greyed-out, not letting me select HDMI for the output.
Any suggestions?

Have you selected the HDMI audio as your default playback device?

If it's been working through the laptop screen it's probably set to "speakers". There should be an option for "Speakers", "S/PDIF" and "HDMI Audio".

Just a thought

Yeah I have but it's still not working.

And I've tested playing music from Windows Media Player. It works fine. The sound comes out from the television.

But when i play a DVD the sound still doesn't come out. And in the WinDVD setup menu, the audio outpu option is grey and unselectable.

I'm having the exact same problem. The audio from my PC works fine over the HDMI connetion in Winamp or Windows Media Player. But when I start up WinDVD (same version) the sound cuts out. Under the audio output settings in WinDVD the HDMI-output setting is grayed out and it can't be selected?!?!? Grrrr... The SPDIF output is what is set in WinDVD and it can't be changed. I want HDMI tho.

Does anyone know any registry "hacks" to enable HDMI output with an HD DVD in WinDVD 8 HD/BD?
