Could just be your the first person in the world to try and register it and their not ready yet - when did you download it - I didn't even know it was released for general consumption yet. BUT to all regular posters the english version of V9 is shown as being available on both the .com and .co.uk websites.

I'm getting the same error message when trying to activate the software. As far as the activation number, the only number I have to try is the "reference number" from element 5 on my order.

I'm not sure whether or not that is the correct number, but the instruction screen enter "license name and reference number." I've sent e-mails to both Ulead and Element 5 asking them about this, but figure it will be a couple of days before I get an answer (if I'm lucky).

This is really poor since the software cannot even be started until this activation process is complete. If I get an answer to either of my e-mails, I will post it here.

Thanks sailor,
As I look back on the link they sent me (and I downloaded), it was titled, "vs9_full_act_e.exe." I guess the "full" stands for the full version. I'm still waiting for an answer to my e-mail with the proper download site.

In the meantime, I'm not at 170MB downloaded out of 591 MB for the extra content (I already have Cool 3D Production Studio so I'm not download their SE version of Cool 3D which is why I ONLY have to download 591MB). :)

Hopefully, by the time that download finishes, I'll receive my reply from Element 5 with the new link.

I vowed some years ago never to use the download again - I always order the boxed version now - so much easier to install - much less hassle to find numbers etc. - comes complete with extra content - so easy to re-install and repair in the future, you've all just confirmed I've done the right thing again by ordering the boxed version - might have to wait a few days and pay a bit of postage but I can live with that.

I've gotten everything working fine now. The original problem WAS that the incorrect download link was received initially. Once I received the correct download link, the program and extra content downloaded and installed fine.

I totally agree with BrianCee, purchase the box version with a lot less hassels and you also will receive a manual with it. :)

I had the same problem. I spoke to Element 5 this morning and the Ulead link had been corrected to point to the upgrade file...not the full product. The file for upgrading is called "uvs9_upg_na__e__RTM.exe" and does not require an activation code. It does look for a previous release however.
