Could you hit Ctrl/Alt/Del and post the typical running processes please.
Whilst Symantec AV will get called to inspect eveything in its search for viruses I can't imagine on a reasonably endowed system it should slow things that much.
What kind of files are you working with? MPEG, DivX, Xvid, DV avi
VS11 lags and moves VERY slowly!!!!

Describe your problem: lagging, freezing
Properties of your source files (format, file size, where did you get it?): Not sure of source. Forwarded to me by friend. On my hard drive. File size is 47MB MPEG1. However, I had VS split it by scene.
What devices are involved and their mode of connection?: Hard drive
Project Settings (important):
Output format (file, DVD, VCD, SVCD): never got that far
PAL or NTSC: NTSC
Error Codes (if any): None
I have since found and tried a few different videos I had done with other versions, and they do not seem to make VS11 lag. However, all the ones I need to edit make it lag. The ones I got sent to me.
