Urgent Request from Corel for Information: VS11
I have received an email from Corel requesting user feedback.
I have been asked to forward a reply to them by 14 October 2007.
In order to improve the quality of UVS12 (Ulead VideoStudio 12), we need your help!
Since UVS11 started implemented with IVI capture plug-in, and we got some cases regarding user can¡¦t capture by UVS11 but they can capture using older UVS versions. Please collect the following information:
Capture device, brand and type from users who can¡¦t capture by UVS11, and describe the problem.
Corel will then try to reproduce the problem.
Please post here so that I can formulate a response from the forum.
This is a DATA gathering thread so please do not turn this into a discussion.
Thank you in anticipation, Steve Jones - Forum Administrator.

Sony Digital 8 video camera DCR-TRV480E. Cannot capture when playing analogue 8mm (or Hi8) tapes in the camera, which is connected to the computer via the camera's Firewire link. No difficulty in such captures with previous versions of VS.
Canon MV960 widescreen mini DV digital video camera -- cannot use the camera as a pass-through device to capture from an analogue source using the camera's Firewire link.

Same problem as Ken & Ron.
I have a Sony DCR-TRV 330E Digital 8 and a Panasonic GS-400 Mini DV. Capture of analogue tapes either produced by camera or VCR Recorder will not take place via firewire pass thru with VS11.
I note that Corel will try and replicate the problem. Will try! get real people. What have you been doing Corel over the months since this problem was first reported.
As the Duke of Edinburgh once said. "Pull your finger out".

IF you don't know what to ask, you can't get the answer
So here we go again.
vista64 with raid0, 500gb hd, ATI 1950PRO graphics card.
Old system: only difference was Nvidia 6800pro graphics card.
Tested both VS10+ and VS11 with Nvidia 6800 card and the results were both Worked fine for capture.
Tested both VS10+ and VS11 with ATI 1950 and the results were ONLY VS10+ would capture. VS11 would give me "capture device error".
So again....why is Corel NOT asking for what I know is the problem with VSII....which is THE NEW CAPTURE ENGINE DOES NOT SUPPORT CERTAIN ATI VIDEO CARDS. Why are you NOT collecting that information. Can't solve a problem if you have no idea where to start.
BTW...the ATI x1950pro is a new mid to high end graphics card that has been around for ?? 1 year. IT is neither old and outdated nor bleeding edge new.

Your problem probably has nothing to do with what this thread is about. MP4 is not meant to be edited. It is for distribution and viewing.babdi wrote:Nokia N-93i mobile phone recording 640 x 480 in MP4 format.
Have Nvidia 6200 LE 512 MB graphics, Windows XP home edition 2 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD.
Video Stuttering while editing MP4 files.
Corel support team is "beating around the bush" to aforesaid problem

Mpeg-2 is not meant to be edited either, but of course the facilities are there to do so in Video Studio and a range of other products. It is the same with mpeg-4.
The mpeg formats are, as Jeff has already said, are really primarily intended for distribution and viewing. Experience tells us that editing mpeg-2 and mpeg-4 can cause lots of problems. Sometimes it works, particularly if you keep the edits simple, sometimes there are problems. There are special programs out there designed specifically to edit mpeg-2s, such as Womble or Video ReDo. I am not sure about mpeg-4s, though I suspect Womble or TempGNc will probably do it.

I have Hauppauge WinTV HVR 1600 NYSC/ATSC Combo capture card. I recieve the message "Unabe to switch to capture mode. Check if your video capture driver is working properly."
The capture card driver is up to date and works with Intervideo WinDVD Creator 3 Platinum, AMCap, MyDVD Basic 9 also installed on this computer.
