The DVD almost undoubtedly uses Dolby audio. If I remember correctly, Video Studio 9 could only handle Dolby with a plug-in which was free to registered users of the *full* version. Unfortunately, two further versions of VS have been issued since then, both of which have the in-built capacity to handle Dolby. I doubt very much whether the plug-in is available any longer.Help! Video Studio9 - when importing DVD, I have no audio. I tried searching in the forums, no help there. Thanks!

Moreover, if you obtained VS9 as bundled software with a piece of hardware, then it will be an SE version, and Dolby is never included in free versions of the program since Ulead/Corel have to pay a licence fee to Dolby for each use of the Dolby codec. No company is going to do that and then give the program away for nothing.
So you will need to either upgrade to a full version of VS10 or 11, get another program which can handle Dolby, or go to videohelp.com and do a search for 'AC-3 filter', which is a free plug-in which should at least allow you to import the Dolby sound into VS9. However, it is a one-way filter only. Once imported, you have to use one of the other DVD audio formats (LPCM or mpeg layer 2) for your edited output.
