Slow menu search speeds on DVD-R

Post by EditMoose »

I have authored a DVD-R that contains about 40 video titles and 12 menus. Each menu button has been designed to play a certain title or playlist of titles, then return to a menu.

Everything works fine except that the search time to play a video title after a menu button is selected on my set top DVD player is 10 seconds or more.

Does anyone have any suggestions for speeding this up? Does anyone know if DVDs replicated from this project will share these slow search times, or is this slow search time limited to DVD-Rs?

One last question - there is no way to trigger a menu when a certain video chapter point is reached, correct? Using playlists, you can start a video from a certain chapter point, but you cannot avoid playing that video until its end. Right?

Thanks for any suggestions or comments

Not sure...

Hi,

not too sure about the slow search times -- could be a combination of how the disc is authored, the dvd media, and the dvd player itself (I've found some dvd players to be more responsive than others).

I did want to confirm your findings that in DWS2 you cannot play a specific chapter of a title, then return to a menu when the next chapter starts (within the same title). This can be done, but not currently in DWS2.x
