Can't add chapters in creating DVD
I have edited my project and now I want to produce a DVD. But when I go to produce DVD menue I can not add chapters. If I click the add chapters buttons there is no movie in the movie preview and I can't set chapters. Selecting the current project doesn't help. Only option is the Auto add chapters, which I don't want.
HELP please!
I use VS11+
I know this feature worked in the VS10+

I am not sure what you are saying here. Could you explain a little further what your work flow was once you had finished Editing. In other words did you go straight from editing to the burning module ( Share > Create Disc) or did you first create a DVD-compatible mpeg-2 of your project ( Share > Create Video File > DVD)? If the latter, did you first close the project by opening a new one, to clear the Editor timeline? And then when you opened the burning module, did you manually insert the new mpeg-2 file in the burning timeline? And then...?there is no movie in the movie preview

I have a same problem here. I have tried to add a sample clip into the timeline, and then I click "Share > Create Disc". The video on timeline will be automatically inserted (but don't know why there is no any preview). Then I click on the "Add Chapter", maybe the sample doesn't exceed 1 mins, so there is only "Automatically Add Chapter" I can choose. Then...... it appeared a fatal error, and then closed all the VS11+ automatically.
Did anyone have the same problem?? I think there is many bugs on the VS11+ comparing with the older version....

First, you don't have to insert a file in the editor timeline first if you already have a file you want to burn to disc or, as now, test the burning module in some way. Simply open VS, then with the timeline empty, go to Share > Create Disc, and the burning module is opened. Then use the Add Media button up in the top left, select the file or files you want to burn, and they will appear in the burning timeline. What you have done, wai, is insert a video in the Editor timeline, then opened the burning module. And in fact, what is automatically appearing in the timeline is really the project file (and not the video file as such).
Anyway, when you select 'create chapters' and the new page opens, the only choice which initially appears is only the 'time based' chapter creation. But if you move the little pointer just a little to the right, then the other option becomes available and you can create a chapter at whichever point you move that pointer to.

wai2 -- please confirm that after you open the burning module, you manually add video to the burning timeline by using the Add Media button up in the top left of the burning screen. The first frame of the first video clip in the timeline should appear in the preview screen.
Then you click on the Add/Edit Menu button and a new page appears. Again the first frame of the video should appear in the preview screen on *that* page. Directly under the preview screen is a blue line and at the extreme left hand end of that line, a downward pointing triangle which is the jog bar.
At this stage, the only option for creation of chapters is Auto Add Chapters. However, if you drag the jog bar just a little to the right (to a point where you want to insert a chapter marker), then the Add Chapter button should become active directly above Auto Add Chapters. If you click on Add Chapter, then a red marker is inserted into the blue line under the preview screen, and Remove Chapter and Remove All Chapters also become active. You can repeat this throughout that clip as many times as you want to insert chapters.
To insert chapters in the other video clips, then simply click on the drop down menu 'Currently Selected Clip' in the top left of that screen, and proceed as above.

In both ways I add the video on the timeline and then click on the "Create Disc", or I click on the "Create Disc" without adding any video on the timeline and then add the video under "Create Disc" screen. All the buttons are grey out on the preview windows. The jog dial are also grey out, and no any preview I can see.
And when I click on the Add/Edit Chapter, the preview windows are also grey out as before. And when I click on the "Add Chapter", no matter I choose anything, the VS11+ will be crashed and close automatically...
I'm not alone with this problem. The below link which I found someone has the exact problem with me.

Yes -- I have it on a Vista Premium computer and it works fine (apart from not being able to capture from an analogue source, but that is another problem altogether...) And the questions I asked above about your work flow were written as I at the same time had VS11 running on Vista, and I was going through the steps one by one... They all worked (as they have in the past too).

I'm using Vista Ultimate, and I have gone through each of the step you suggested. But there is still no preview under the burning module after I added the video clip. And also encounter a crash problem when adding chapter...
Is that any difference on the installation procedure? Did you turn off the UAC when installing the VS11+?
