HELP !! UNINSTALL -REINSTALL HELP REQUIRED

Post by srj1957 »

Frustrated !!!! :? Please Please help ...

I have MF5 and it was working nicely. All worked fine for the small projects I was doing. Then I had a problem so I read through the forums and it recommend to uninstall and reinstall. I had to search for hours to try and figure out what I had to remove delete etc.

I finally did what I thought was right and then reinstalled MF5, however now the Video Caputer Preview window does not show anything nor can I get any sound.

My suggestion is can we have a STICKY for INSATLL/UNINSTALL/REINSTALL for each version that lists the steps.

I like this product and would like to get it up and running again.

Can anyone help me with a detailed MF5 Clean uninstall and reinstall.

Why doesn't ULEAD folks give a CLEANUP program to do a clean uninstall so we can start afresh.

Thanx in advance

:( ...
I did a search on Install uninstall and ther eare over 500 enties in MF forum , so I thought since the are so many people with so many problems ...why doesn't teh folks at ULEAD create CLEANUP program to do a clean uninstall so we can start afresh. I know KODAK does offer one.

ANyhow, I followed the instructions to Uninstall and Reinstall to no avial. I still have no audio and the Preview Screen is blank when I try to capture images from the camera.

It had worked fine in the past and I still have the same camera, firewire connections etc :(

Any ideas...

I did as you suggested and put my suggestion in the "wish list.

So to go back to my issue...after trying the "clean uninstall re-install" , is there no other help with the problem. Am I stuck like a lame duck in water ? :(

First thing we need to establish is whether the problem is MovieFactory, the connection or your computer.
Try to import from your camcorder with Windows Movie Maker.
If it works then the problem may be within MovieFactory.
If it does not work then it might be that the cable or one of the sockets - either the one at the PC end or the one at the camera end has developed a fault such as a bent pin.

You mention firewire and camera.
Did you mean firewire and camcorder?
You also mentioned Kodak which tends to suggest a camera.
Cameras tend to use a USB connection with a specially adapted plug at the camera end.

Thansk for replying SJJ1805...I appreciate your assistance

I mean Camcoder - Sony DCR-HC36...the reference KODAK is for my digital camera..and issue with Kodak Easyshare software. Unrealted to this.

It seems cables are OK because --- :)
I got further just a few minutes ago...I decided to have a go and try import the video using ULEAD MF5 from the camcorder although I cannot see the video in the preview window and to my surprise it does import the video, but it did not pull in the audio. :?

OK we are a step forward.
The loss of audio could be due to either
a. A faulty cable/connection (only affecting the audio part)
b. An incorrect setting in the Windows Audio Control Panel For Recording

I used the Sony Software that came with the camcorder ( Picture Package ) to try to see if the audio still works there; and it does I can capture both video and audio directly from the camcorder.

What do you think should I try next ?
