I've been using MSP7.3 on XP for quite some time now with no major hang-ups.
However, recently the project I am working on has been causing me a lot of trouble. It keeps locking up (windows does not respond and it just hangs with the hourglass figure. CPU shows 100% but seems to be stuck).
Especially recently when I select an area of the project to preview as a clip (eg as opposed to instant play). The clip renders until it gets to 95% and then just hangs.
Another recurring problem is that when I insert a stock overlay clip that I've used many times before over the years suddenly MSP7 does not seem to like me usign the clip. When I unroll or try to preview it my PC just locks up.
It feels like it¡¦s a memory problem but I've cleared all the temporary files that I have and still have a fair amount of space left on each hard disk? Has anybody else seem anything like this? Or can you recommend memory areas to check or clear. It seems to be restricted to one dvp at present but as usual it¡¦s on a project that I need to work on.
Any help would be appeciated.
Cheers
Dean
MSP7 crashing on preview and clips used before...
If you read and followed the Please read this before posting thread, don't you think it may be easier for us to second-guess what your problem is?????
I wouldn't mind betting that you have a HDD problem, though. By default, MSP puts some temp/preview files on your C: disk, even if the proggy and video files are elsewhere. These files can total many Gb and this can pass unnoticed until you get problems, such as you describe. Alternatively, you may have a bad sector in one of your drives. A full re-format should sort that out (I reformat my video, temp and preview drives before starting each new project). Otherwise, bad fragmentation may be a cause. Again, reformatting is better than defragging.

Re: MSP7 crashing on preview and clips used before...
This bit suggests to me that it's an issue with recently-installed software. A codec, perhaps?drdean wrote:...when I insert a stock overlay clip that I've used many times before over the years suddenly MSP7 does not seem to like me usign the clip.
