BDMV Authoring Issues with HD pack

Post by LeeB99 »

I purchased this upgrade, along with Movie Factory 6 plus, and when creating a BDMV title, it goes through the process of creating the folders and then quits with a "Unspecified Error" in a small box. It also tries to re-encode the audio on a compliant video file with dolby digital 5.1 audio, even though I have checked off the "do not convert compliant MPEG files". I will keep messing with it, but so far, I can't get it to create a BDMV. Another wierd nag is the fact that it REQUIRES you to have a BD disc in the drive, even when you are just asking the software to create the Blu-Ray folders. And it even makes you format the same (previously formatted) disc every time you try to create the folders. Any help would be appreciated...

Hi,
I split your post and moved it into the MF section to start a new thread.
I don't have a blu-ray disk burner but I can create the BDMV folder structures on my harddisk.
Are you starting MF with no disk at all in the BD burner? Then MF forces you to put a disk into the burner even if the create disk box is not checked (for creating BDMV folders only on the harddisk)

Relating to your error message where & how did you create this video with Dolby 5.1 audio?
You say it goes through the process of creating the folders and then quits with an "unspecified Error" in a small box. Do you recall if it was in the Multiplexing Video/Audio step when this error occured?
Usually this error occurs because the source file is corrupted IF the error occures in the video/audio multi-plexing stage.

I figured out that my problem was actually due to the fact that the "working folder" for the BDMV compilation was on a hard drive that did not have enough space left on it to cache all of the disc contents. After changing my "working folder" to a hard drive with plenty of space, the procedure now works. Even though the software SAYS that it is "encoding the audio", it does not appear to be changing it, so long as it is a compliant MPEG file, so that is no longer a concern.

Unfortunately, I have had absolutely NO LUCK with creating a BDMV with a functioning menu. Even after testing the menu in the "simulation" mode before burning to confirm that it SHOULD work, I get an "Unexpected Error" message that shuts down the procedure after all of the MPEG files for the motion menus have been rendered (which takes about an hour to do). I can make BDMV's without menus, and they work as expected, but every time I try to do a BDMV with menu, the error occurs.

A good trick that saves time is to NOT insert your disc into the drive until you get to the "burning" dialog page. This will keep your program from "checking out" the disc at every step of the authoring procedure, which can take a couple of minutes PER authoring page segment...

Sounds annoying you need to have the disc in the tray.

Maybe you can leave the disc out all together. After you create the menu's in the disk burning module uncheck create disk, (then click on the down arrow to display additional burning options) & click on create folders on the harddisk, or ISO image if available.

You can burn the folders using Nero with the settings of UDF / Manual / Physical Partition/ UDF 2.6
