Hauppauge PVR driver
Hi,
I purchased a Hauppauge PVR250 card that came with MF 2.0SE.
It works well enough for me but thought I could at least try the new trial version of MF (4.0).
It comes up with an error:
"Failed to connect to driver: Hauppauge WinTV PVR II capture"
Any idea on how I can make this version work with my capture card ?
Thanks

The ULEAD Movie factory 4 was not made to work with our TV cards. ULEAD specially designed the DVD Movie Factory 3se to work with our WinTV cards.

Subject: ULEAD Version 4.0 SUpport
I have the USB 2.0 PVR and recently upgraded to ULEAD Version 4.0. The tuner and other audio/video attachment possibilities worked in ULEAD Version 3 (With ULEAD’s published Hauppague patch); however, do not work with ULEAD Version 4.0. I have tried to contact ULEAD Technical Support; however, they don’t respond. ON the ULEAD Forum, all indicator are that it is Hauppauge “To Do” to resolve.
What’s going on? Do I need to replace your product with another (Really hate to do that because it is so good)? Need some guidance and/or news here. I have already installed all of the most recent updates.
Please provide what you have.
Thanks,
Gary

Here is Ulead's answer to me:
Dear XXX,
This device is not fully supported by Moviefactory unless there is a capture plugin patch or the device if the device is bundled with MovieFactory. MovieFactory 3 FULL has a capture plugin patch for Hauppauge PVR and bundled versions of DMF3 with Hauppauge has a capture plugin built-in to it. For DMF4, there is still no word yet if there will be a capture plugin patch to be released but DMF4 might be bundled with the latest Hauppauge devices soon. For the moment, you may capture the video using WinTV application then import the captured video file to MovieFactory.
Thank you
Best regards,
XXX

Good News - Patch is now offered and it works - Sort Of
It works; however, I am unable to accurately control the time/bit sampling for recordings that are are over 1 hour and 13 minutes in duration. Also, the settings appear to "skip" and "reset" themselves "at whim".
I'll need to play with this some more. I gues that is what Alpha testes are for - especially once they pay for the product/upgrade.

Hi,
I was interested to read that MF 3 SE supplied with Win TV cards is supposed to be supplied with a supporting patch. I have just bought a PVR 350 with MF 3SE, on a vers 2.3 installation CD, and found that this is not the case.
I tried downloading the MF 3.0 Win TV PVR patch from the Ulead site but have found that, although the card is initially recognised and I can briefly get video up on the MF screen, I also immediately get an error message saying that DVDMF has committed an illegal operation and must shut be closed.
I noticed that one is supposed to install the Build ID: 300P01 patch (dated 3/6/2004) after installing the Win TV PVR patch but, as I am already running DVDMF application file dated 23/2/2005, I don't see how I can do this.
I spoke briefly with Hauppauge UK Support about this, today, and they said that the problem may be due to my running 98SE, whereas the patch may have only been written for XP.
Does anyone have a PVR 250/350 working properly with MF 3SE running under 98SE? or can anyone throw any more light on this?
