with VS11: what's the red line in SHARE time scale?

Post by mikewillnot »

I have a 3 minute project, with about 20 clips in it. I don't remember when this appeared, or what exactly I was doing at the time, but: in both the edit and the share tabs, when I'm in the timeline mode, on the time scale just above the video track, there is now a fat red line that extends from the beginning of the project to a little more than the half way point, and ends in the middle of a clip. When I'm in the share mode, if I try to play the whole project, playback continues until the end of that red line is reached, and then stops.

Can anyone please tell me what that red line is, how I got it, and how to get rid of it, so I can resume full project playback?

---------------------------
UPDATE: I see now two "preview range" counters, mark-in and mark-out. These settings correspond with the span of this red line. I still can't see how to control those settings, though; nothing seems to work.
-----------------------------

I would look in the help files, but for some reason my upgrade install doesn't seem to have any.

I also can't find anything on this in the forums or newsgroups.

I also can't find any tutorials that deal with it.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. THANKS.

Somehow you have managed to set a "preview range" and that is shown by the red line. Just grab hold of each end with your mouse and drag both ends as far as they will go and the line will disappear.

Hi there

VideoStdudio does have help files - on the top right corner, you will see a ? question mark. Click on this and select VideoStudio Help. Now you can search for topics like "Creating and Saving a Video File" which will have a subtopic about Preview Range.

Best

Tobie -- I suspect the poster knows how to find Help files. As he says, though, his upgrade version did not seem to come with the files which are activated by the ? button. There are quite a few upgrade users who have the same problem. It seems that the Help files are in the second of the upgrade/ download file packages (Extra Content). But for some reason, Corel seems only the giving a link to the first (i.e. main program) package, and not the second or third (Bonus) package when a user buys the product. It would be appreciated if you could check with Corel to avoid this in the future.

You probably set a mark-in or mark-out point when in Project mode instead of Clip mode.
