Ok,

I just emailed Element 5 and received back an email with a different link to the file on it. They said that due to problems with the web site I may have gotten the wrong link to the file. They recommended I un-install what I have and reinstall the new file link.

Man it doesn't pay to be first in line for these things. :)

I hope they get their bugs worked out for the rest of you.

I will try and will post the results.

P.S. Looks like they originally gave me the full version and not the upgrade version link or something and it requires an activation code from your box or cd. :)

Speedy2,
I'm having the same problem with the "activation code" request (I also downloaded the upgrade version). In the instructions in the activation code box it says to enter "reference number". Although it says the number can be found on the box or on the CD case, there is a "reference" number in the subject box of the e-mail confirmation (happens to be the same as the order #).

I tried this number, but still get the error message. The fact that the error message comes up so quickly might mean that the system isn't working (as opposed to the reference number being wrong). I've e-mailed both Ulead and Element 5 and am awaiting an answer. I'll post any new developments.

In the meantime, I've started the extra content download (50MB down, 450MB to go).

I just got an email from them saying they have messed up and they gave me a new link to download it agian including the attachments.

So I would stop your downloading you're wasting your time until they get back to you or you should email them right away!

After my experiences with the downloading of VS8 I decided this time to order the box version.

Yes, it will take a few weeks to get to Europe.
Yes, it will cost me 30 Euro's extra for the transport.
And Yes, it will give me 2 days less of headaches. I think that's worth it!

I vowed some years ago never to use the download again - I always order the boxed version now - so much easier to install - much less hassle to find numbers etc. - comes complete with extra content - so easy to re-install and repair in the future, you've all just confirmed I've done the right thing again by ordering the boxed version - might have to wait a few days and pay a bit of postage but I can live with that.

In fact I've just received an e-mail telling me it's already been dispatched - so hardly any wait at all :D

I would of thought you could order yours now randazzo if you want the english version - comes from Germany anyrate - why not try ordering from the .co.uk website.

Finally success!!!!

Downloaded all the files via ftp(friggin slow) and finally was done this morning. Installed and everything seemed to go without a hitch. I created a folder called SmartDownload in the same directory I put video studio 9 and put all the extras there and installed.

I like that VS9 now includes the AC3 and that Cool3D SE is also included. Well worth the upgrade. I'll have to test the 16:9 editing later this week.

I paid for the box version of VS8 and decided not to pay the extra expenses for VS9 to have it shipped to Canada. I can burn my own cd and the manual, if I need to, I can print at work on a double sided printer.
