When I try and download from the link that was provided to me after purchase it downloads and stops at 99% and just sits there. Just wondering if its just my link or if everyone is having the same problem.

Thanks

Looks to be available on the main site: http://www.ulead.com/store/vs/runme.htm

I didn't see anything specifically stating it's a pre order.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't specific enough. Video Studio 9 is available to purchase and download in North America as of today April 4th.

I purchased the upgrade version and was given a link to the new file. File downloads and stops at 99% and just hangs. Waiting for a response back from Element 5 but was wondering if everyone else was having the same problems.

Speedy is right. VS9 is available on the Ulead website. I just ordered the boxed version. The download is 171 MB and the extra content is 750 MB. Probably two CDs in the boxed version. This would be a LONG download.

I think everything is ok

Post by Speedy2 »

Just talked to a tech support guy here at work. Problem is the way that internet exployer works and the way that Element 5 is configured. If the file is at 99% that means it has likely finished transferring the file but is in the process of converting it from your temp area to the place you want to store the file. Could take over 1/2 hr to do this.

I guess I was a little impatient but most files don't take this long to download and I have a fast t1 line.

It doesn' t take 30 minutes for a temp file to get copied to the destination folder. That files is what 120 mb's? 10 to 20 seconds, maybe a minute if your using a dinosaur.

You are correct. :)

I let it run for an hr and Internet Exployer timed out downloading from site. Still having a problem. I'll try from home tonight and maybe I'll have better luck.

Response from Element 5

Post by Speedy2 »

This is the email I got back from Element 5. Hopefully it will help someone having the same problems. I never got an email from them confirming my purchase and was just downloading from the link that was posted in my browser after purchase. I'm thinking maybe my work firewall is causing problems and will try at home tonight.

Thank you for your e-mail message.

For most convenient downloading we recommend using the element 5
download manager. By using this, you will be able to
start and stop the download as needed or restart the download if your
computer disconnects from your Internet Service
Provider.

To use the download manager enter the html link we e-mailed to you
after your order into your web browser. Scroll to
the bottom of the page and click on the "start download manager" link.

For most customers this opens the download manager successfully. Some
customer cannot load the download manager
successfully but are able to load it after downloading the Java Plug-in
referenced on the download web page.

If you are not able to use the download manager regardless of having
installed the plug-in, the "simple download" will
still work for you. In the event that the file download stops before
completing, delete the partially downloaded file
and start the download again until your download completes.

If you still are not able to download successfully please check your
firewall settings, as they may be preventing a
successful download.

Many customers find it most convenient to download the third-party
download manager program called "GetRight". GetRight
is a small shareware file available for free download at
www.getright.com. It functions similarly to the element 5
download manager, as it allows you to start and stop a download or
restart a download at any point when you lose your
connection.

If there is an available backup CD for this product and you have
purchased it, you will be able to install the exact
same version of the program from the backup CD.

Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions, as we would
be happy to assist you.

funny thing is Trevor I can't see anywhere on the UK website where it says that the full/upgrade version is not available NOW in the UK - that comment about 15th April only seems to apply to the trial version - I'm going to try ordering the boxed version and see what happens.

If your on dial up yes it's probably the practical route to take otherwise I'd forgo the DL manager if they provide a direct link to the file.

I'm very leary of any software that 3rd parties want to install. I find that half of that stuff contains spyware or other unwanted "add-ons".

On a side note.... IE occassionally will restart DL's that have timed out. Usually only works the second try though.

False Alarm!!!

Post by Speedy2 »

I'm happy to report it was just a problem downloading from work. Must have been a firewall thing. The file download was smoking at 500KB/sec from home and installed without a hitch. Just have to figure out now what my activation code is.

The model for VS9 is hot!!
