Copies of burned DVDs

Not sure whether I have missed something here but I have a question about making copies of a DVD disk that I have made with VS8.

If I try to copy the dvd in total with say NERO 6 (+others tried) the copying fails before the end although the resulting disk can be used in part - some sections missing/jumps etc.

Also, having created a disk image, burning a new copy with the Ulead disk image application creates a complete copy but I have noticed some skipping not evident in the original project burn - ie inferior copy.

Is this a common problem or likely to be something to do with my setup (which I know has not been detailed here) Any ideas?

It's probably the media, try some better discs. Burns are more likely to fail near the end than the beggining. Try keeping your projects below 4 gigs. You could also try a slower burn rate and make sure you have the latest updates for you software and the newest firmware for the drive.
