DVD file saving

Post by DennisLamb »

When I burn a movie to a DVD and then turn off, I get a message that the file is being saved. What is this file and where is it being saved? I am aware of the vsp file and where that is saved but is the DVD saving a different file and, if so, what is the format?

It is very well that you are also saving a copy of the DVD. (Which, is a GOOD thing). It can be a .VOB file or .ISO. I found the BEST way of creating a DVD is to actually do that, save the image to your hard drive and just make a copy to the DVD itself. PC's get gas and burp, less likely on a "copy to DVD" than to actually burn the DVD.

Yes I have always done that with previous Movie software but I can't see where Video Studio 11 gives me the option to burn the movie to hard disk - am I just being a bit thick?

Not at all.. It is there, in share. Check or uncheck the file folder options..

Thanks again MrAmigo. I have now found it under Share/Create Video File/Custom then this gives me a choice of folder and a choice of file format. Kind regards.

I too have followed the above; is there a way to save a disc image or .ico? I don't see those options listed. (Maybe I'm overlooking something simple here.)

It's in exactly the same place as you find the DVD folder option. When you get to the last page of the burning module, you have in the middle of screen 'Create Disc' to the right of a yellow box with a tick in it, and to the right of that a window for 'Recording Format'. Well to the right of that, by default, there should be a button with two downward pointing arrows. Click on that and hey presto! You will now have the choice of either a disk image file (.iso, not .ico as you wrote it) or DVD folders.
