I have been able to make a Blu-ray BDMV & AVCHD on normal DVD's
without any problems at all, and would like to comment on the following:
All Chapter Points in BDMV triggers a menu(should be able to supress this
as an option).
AVCHD picture qualityfrom HDV material on normal DVD's is SUPER!.
HDV conversion to AVCHD takes a long time. A 12 minute HDV took nearly 2 hours, compared to 6 minutes for the same in BDMV.
Works Great, but having a problem with Menus in BDMV Auth.
I have been able to use this software to successfully create BDMV discs from my high definition archived content. Unfortunately, I have not been able to create a BDMV with working menus. The software spends about an hour "rendering" the MPEGS for the menus, and then aborts the procedure with "Unexpected Error" in a message box. The operation them terminates. And this is even after I used the "simulation" mode to test the menu before initiating the burn. Is there something that I am doing wrong (or not doing at all)? Without Menus, it works fantastic. When I add chapter stops, it does not effect playback at all. Also, it accepts 720p material without requiring a conversion process, and will burn both 720p and 1080i material to the same BDMV compilation.
One tip that I would like to share is that you must make sure that the hard drive that your "working folder" is assigned to has enough room to cache all of the information before the burn. Otherwise, you will get an error, and the program will stop the procedure...

I have applied the Patch 2 for MF6P and then installed the HD-Pack.LeeB99 wrote:I have been able to use this software to successfully create BDMV discs from my high definition archived content. I also have the Pioneer Blu-ray burner BDR-202.
I do not have any problems with BDMV with Menus.
The BDMV Menus's are great even without Motion Menus's. The BDMV Motion Menu's takes up space and time, but this could be overridden in the Menu Edit section(remove the tick) form Motion menu box. By the way I have found that this software is the best I seen so far, and will only use this in the future.

Can someone with this pack tell me if this is possible:
Select an HD-DVD project, then pick HD-DVD on DVD9 disc. When you go in to the project settings under the compression tab can you choose something other than MPEG-2, which I see selected and grayed out? If you can select h264/AVC does it allow you to select a bitrate below 8Mbit?

You can try this, my videos studder on the HD-DVD.
Create your avc/h264 file using the instructions in this link.
Then use that video file in your HD-DVD project.
Create your video file first:

Does this new HD powerpack support M2T format now, or at least timestamp-based scene splitting for HDV tapes now?dhnj wrote:I have only used HDV Mpeg2 footage from a Canon HV20 Camcorder.
That's my primary blocking point to buying DVDMF6+ or VS11+ ...
it says now "M2TS (Transport Stream) Import
* Import video files directly from AVCHD hard drive or memory card camcorders.
* DVD MovieFactory® 6 Plus opens M2TS files copied to your hard drive using other utilities."
Not sure if this M2TS support would work for HDV M2T (mpeg2) files, or if this is only harddisk-camcorder (or MPG4 AVCHD) ?

You can insert .HDV hd-mpeg2.m2t (TS) video files.Does this new HD powerpack support M2T format now, or at least timestamp-based scene splitting for HDV tapes now?

Neither MF6+ or VS11+ captures in the TS format, they bothl capture in the PS format. and neither program splits by date/scene..
You can use HDVSplit to capture in the TS format & auto-split HDV, then insert into MF6+ or VS11+.
You need to buy the Plus versions for High Definition video.

Thanks for the quick reply- this makes a huge difference & may solve my HDV workflow problem!etech6355 wrote:You can insert .HDV hd-mpeg2.m2t (TS) video files.Does this new HD powerpack support M2T format now, or at least timestamp-based scene splitting for HDV tapes now?

Yes, I was planning to use HDVSplit to capture, since it does a nice job of naming files per date... I don't always like to have lots of little scene-split files (virtual clips in 4gb-chunks are easier to handle sometimes);
but it's fine if MF6+/VS11+ w/ powerpacks now won't force me to also convert all the little M2T files to MPG first!! (assuming "insert HDV .m2t" means will use directly, as opposed to converting it tp mpg2)
Given the sale on now, this may cause me to purchase! Thanks!
Now I have to figure out AVCHD vs 3xDVD or HD Rec "mini" DVD-R HD recording methods

Are there any differences in authoring features (disk menus, chapters etc) for 3X DVD (MPG2 or VC1) vs AVCHD (H.2645) mini HD disk format, in MF6+? Do they even allow VC1/WMV-HD authoring on 3xDVDs, or only MPG2?
And also what differences in such authoring for MF6+ vs VS11+?
Seems MF6+ is more advanced "cool" menu effects such as animations and themes and such, but... would be nice to have a direct feature comparison chart between the two, for editing & authoring...
if it was clear of the benefits/differences between the two, I could know which to buy, or if it was valuable to buy both.

Yes, without re-encoding if they are avc/h264 compliant for blu-ray disk.In BDMV mode does the Ulead DVD MovieFactory Plus 6 HD Power Pack only support MPEG 2 streams output, or will it include MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, as long as I give it proper files?
When your in the BDMV module to use avc/h264 on the blu-ray disk click on the GEAR Icon and check on BOTH boxes that say "Do Not Convert Compliant files" & XDisc.
If the AVC/H264 videos are compliant they will not be re-encoded and passed through the encoder directly into the multi-plexing stage.
The BDMV module by default will convert & use mpeg2, so if MF needs to encode video it will encode the video to the settings you have set under "Project Settings" accessible from the "Gear" Icon -> Change Mpeg Settings -> Customize.
What I do for blu-ray to use mixed content is start an avchd project, insert my HDV hd-mpeg2 video files, export them to the harddisk to create an avc/h264 compliant video file using these video/audio parameters, 1440x1080 UFF, 18MBS VBR, Dolby 5.1@448kbs. at 100% compression/quality. Always double check the fielding which is usually Upper_Field_First. MF likes to revert back to the lower field first when you are making settings. Just always double check the fielding setting and do this setting last. You can always double check the encoding settings by viewing the window in the lower left hand corner of the windows before saving the file. Those are the setings that MF will encode the video to. You can always change these settings by clicking on the "Option" Icon in the export/save module.
These videos end up with approx a 11MBS-12MBS average bit-rate (not true 18MBS). I find it easier to create custom templates first and then apply the templates for exporting or setting the project settings.
After I export/convert the HDV videos from the avchd module I then exit & start a BDMV project. Insert the avc/h264 videos that I made in the avchd module and burn a bdmv disk or create harddisk folders.
I've also used avc/h264 from other programs and they are passed through in the BDMV module (also in the avchd module when creating an avchd disk).
They just have to be seen in MF as avchd compliant.
